skippy740 Posted April 5, 2009 Report Posted April 5, 2009 Elder Ken W. Pearson's talk was right in line with some realizations I've been coming to recently. Very timely for me personally. Quote

Jenamarie Posted April 5, 2009 Report Posted April 5, 2009 I thought it was funny when Elder Uchtdorf introduced the next two speakers, when actually it was supposed to be the Church Audit report, and the Auditor said "I am neither" when he got to the pulpit. Quote

pam Posted April 5, 2009 Report Posted April 5, 2009 I love President Uchtdorf. The talk he is currently giving is awesome. Quote
beefche Posted April 5, 2009 Report Posted April 5, 2009 Elder Holland's talk. Fantastic.Did I not call it? I absolutely love Elder Holland and this talk is seriously one of the all time best I've ever had the privilege of listening to. Wow, how powerful! Quote
talisyn Posted April 5, 2009 Report Posted April 5, 2009 Yesterday Bro. Rafael E. Pino gave a talk that made me cry. Not simply teary, but actual lip-quivering crying. It was awesome! All of the talks have been excellent. I've stayed awake for most of them, even though I work this weekend. I don't want to miss anything. My favorite quote so far, and for the life of me I cannot remember who said it, was "We should never complain if we are living worthily of anything that happens in our lives.' Quote
mikbone Posted April 5, 2009 Report Posted April 5, 2009 (edited) My favorite part so far... Elder Anderson quoting Elder Packer - paraphrasing "I am a nobody, then he turned and looked at me, and said, And Brother Anderson you are a nobody. And don't you ever forget it. And if you do, you will be reminded in an instant. And it won't be pleasant." This gives me comfort. :) Brother Holland on the Atonement. I could listen to talks on the atonement all day long. applepansy Posted April 5, 2009 Author Report Posted April 5, 2009 I loved all the talks. I'm having a hard time deciding today (Sunday) which talk was the best. I can't choose. I loved the emphasis on the Temple this afternoon. I can't think of a better place to be when the world is falling apart around us. Thank you everyone for responding. I've enjoyed reading your thoughts. applepansy Quote
Palerider Posted April 6, 2009 Report Posted April 6, 2009 President Monson gave the last talk at the conference....it was excellent... Quote
pam Posted April 6, 2009 Report Posted April 6, 2009 It was not a talk but I was greatly moved by the Choir singing after the 1st session this morning...We Thank Thee O God for a Prophet and they showed pictures of President Monson. It brought tears to my eyes. Quote
lilered Posted April 6, 2009 Report Posted April 6, 2009 I was impressed by Pres. Monsons cousel to use the internet for good, but watch very carefully because Satan will entice one to use it for sin. Counseled on pornography to stop immediatly. This subject seems to be growing rapidly in the World and is now affecting many in the church. Quote
Cra-Z Posted April 19, 2009 Report Posted April 19, 2009 Yep, Elder Ken W. Pearson and President Uchtdorf's talk in the Priesthood Session were both big highlights for me. :-) It's been so great to review. Quote

Helgi Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 Mine was the 1st presidency´s answer to my question: Are my wife and I correct in refusing male doctors and nurses to violate my wife´s modesty because they are doctors, just because she is pregnant. I feel it is a violation of the law of chastity. The reply came from Dieter F. Uchtdorf, who said that irrespective of the worlds decadence we should say: "I am doing the Lords work, and I cannot come down." In other words, DO NOT LOWER THE STANDARDS. DO NOT SELL YOUR MORALS AND STANDARDS (OUR SYMBOLS AND TOKENS) FOR MONEY, by paying some male to do a task, that women did in the Bible, just because MORTAL MEN (Natural men (God´s enemies)) who serve the destroyer (of marriages) say "It´s all right" - We aren´t that "old fashioned" anymore. We are LDS, We have Morals and Standards, and are proud of it. Quote

How exactly is it breaking the law of chastity? He's not asking your wife to bare herself for sexual means. Quote
Helgi Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 I'm scratching my head over this one... How exactly is it breaking the law of chastity? He's not asking your wife to bare herself for sexual means.IMHO, too many doctors, are in it for their own voyeuristic satisfaction, HENCE a violation of the law of chastity, as if one person gets satisfaction out of it that is enough. Becoming a doctor, is like becoming a certified peeping tom. Just like people who are addicted or prone to pornography or other forms of decadence. You have my thanks and gratitude for your query. I know, that a lot of members, find it "alright", because they are "doctors", but this is how Satan wants us to think, and slowly and surely reduce The Church from the inside, as has been prophisied. applepansy Posted June 23, 2009 Author Report Posted June 23, 2009 (edited) Helgi, I'm totally baffled by your attitude towards doctors. Are you just targeting OB-GYNs or all doctors? I've worked with doctors and I know many LDS doctors who are not at like you describe. The always have a female nurse with them when examining patients, they never express any satisfaction of the type you imply. Both my sisters and my mother are all RNs. They would say the same thing. I'm not saying there aren't bad people in medicine. I'm saying there are bad people everywhere. The majority of people who go through 10+ years of school don't do it to get a "peek" Elder Nelson of the Quorum of the Twelve would take exception to your characterization. He's a Cardiothoracic Surgeon. EDIT: You highjacked the thread. Start your own. Edited June 23, 2009 by applepansy Quote
Gwen Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 i think we might be a bit off topic here. if one wants to discuss if the law of chastity is broken by a woman using a male dr then a new thread needs to be started. Quote
