Dravin
Great, I can see it now: "Some missionaries TPed my house and lit a brown paper bag of dog doo on my porch and ran away!"
RMGuy
Dravin, I hadn't even thought about that aspect! -RM
jerome1232
I'm sure LDS Missionaries have been impostered (i think i just invented a word...) before in that sort of light.

annewandering
lol so now on halloween how many missionaries are going to be thought to be trick or treaters?
Dravin
lol so now on halloween how many missionaries are going to be thought to be trick or treaters? If my mission was any indication: None. We had district training sessions through out the mission because of the various pitfalls of proselyting on Halloween. Though I'm not honestly sure how indicative my mission was (and obviously it'd only be applicable where Halloween is celebrated), but I imagine a fair number of missions have plans so that missionaries aren't going door to door on Halloween. Backroads
This is even better than my brothers' plan to go trick-or-treating in their Aida Nubian slaves flesh-colored body suits.
HEthePrimate
(and obviously it'd only be applicable where Halloween is celebrated)I served in France, where they don't celebrate Halloween. (Some of the more observant Catholics do observe All Saints' Day, though, but that's neither here nor there.) We missionaries organized a Halloween party for a branch activity. It was fun trying to explain the whole concept to the French members--they didn't have a clue about Halloween! Also, we wanted dry ice for the punch, to make it look like witches' brew, but it was a bit difficult to find any. Ended up going to a coffin factory, appropriately enough, to get the dry ice! I think they said something about dry ice being used in the embalming process. (??)
skippy740
I can see some people in a shirt/tie with a name badge that says "I'm in a musical"... guess which one? And then break into song...
lizzy16
I kinda of find this to be bad taste.... A few years ago a girl came to my door as a pregnant nun. I laughed for a few moments and then thought "What if they came to the door as a pregnant missionary?" And, i decided any religous costumes were bad taste. annewandering
It is in bad taste but on the other hand, humor is generally the unexpected. My husband doesnt see the humor in halloween missionaries at all and he has a pretty good sense of humor.
RMGuy
I hear what you are saying lizzy, at the same time I prefer to be able to laugh at myself than to be too uptight. Personally, I just find life to be a lot more pleasurable and less stressful that way. Though, I can understand where you are coming from as well. -RM
pam
I sewed a bunch of packets of Smarties to the back side of a pair of pants once. I was a smart....umm....aleck. :)
Blackmarch
Hmmm this thread makes me want to "doggie treats" for people taht come to the door in certain costumes... doggy treat: make up some "dirt" in a paper cup using crushed oreos and eitehr ice cream or whipped cream. then take a large warmed tootsie roll thats been rolled out and positioned to look like a doggy present on top of the "dirt" ^.^
NeuroTypical
Quick costume - stick some cotton balls to your shirt and walk around with a squirt gun. When someone asks you, you squirt them and say "partly cloudy with a chance of showers".
Vort
One sister in our ward glued miniature cereal boxes all over with knives through them. She was, of course, a cereal killer.

beefche
One lady wore all white clothes and taped various types of items to herself--garbage bag, empty can, crumpled paper, etc. She was "white trash."

annewandering
my little 1 year old granddaughter has a gwenzilla suit. They are making a hoop of little boxes made to look like buildings and put that suspended around her. She will be gwenzilla in the city.
