  1. Well I'm feeling pretty good about making the first cut....and it looks like I'll have 1000 years to work on making the second cut....
  2. Miracles happen, we may not understand why they happen but I am sure that they are governed by the laws of this earth. Many of which we do not understand. Now someone said that everything happens for a reason. This I cannot agree with. Sometimes bad/good stuff happens just because.....
  3. All gloom and doom, I predict that we will not see anything happen in my life time and I am still pretty young. By the way I live in CA, I turned on my faucet and guess what.....water came out
  4. Joseph also taught that individuals do not speak for and cannot receive revelation for the body of the church...... Personal revelations are great but I do not think that we need to read very much into it when it concerns more than the individual. The Lord has a system set up for communication to the body of the church.
  5. Yes people are important in being successful in life, both temporally and spiritually. Our leaders and if you look at other successful people they are well socialized. God helps us when we help our selves, want a good job? you better put yoru self out there, network, etc. Want a promotion you better put yourself out there....do extra projects, make friends in the work place etc. You mention that you are a failure...why would you mention this if you don't want anyone to comment on it? sounds a little trollish to me
  6. Was he like this before you got married? My 2 cents which is about all my opinion is worth. Leave now while you still can, your children are in a poor environment and will learn nothing positive from the man. Every habit you have described is a poor one. If I give you the 50% discount (because we only have one side of the story) he is still a monster.
  7. This is untrue, LDS Doctrine cannot change and if President Monson tried to change our doctrine he would be mistaken. That said President Monson could receive revelation expanding on current doctrine or introduce new doctrine, but cannot change doctrine.
  8. You would allow football to be watched and not put up a fit...... Sounds like you are putting up a fit You view things black and white he does not, there is nothing wrong with that. However you KNEW his stance on Sabbath observance before you married him. I wouldn't bother him about it if I was you.
  9. Sounds like local policy/rules certainly not a church mandate from Salt Lake
  10. Clearly the only true and lasting happiness is that of an eternal nature achieved only through the gospel of Jesus Christ made possible by his atoning sacrifice. I don't think that most people have the eternal expectation of happiness that you and I enjoy.
  11. I haven't read through all of the posts, but it seems to me that we are viewing this from the view point that people are choosing to be gay. It may be that people are born this way, or with a tendency towards this behavior..ie SSA. I for one cannot imagine "choosing" this lifestyle, but if it is part of who you are, who are we to say that they should not have the same opportunities at happiness that "straight" individuals do? For the record I do not presume to know if people are born this way or if it is a conscious decision to live/have these attractions.
  12. I went to a fundraiser for the Democratic party once......
  13. Do him and yourself a favor and call it off.....your setting yourself up for a disaster. getting married is no magical pill that will resolve your issues. They will still be there
  14. Joseph smith DID have his own seer stone, this is the stone to which David Witmer refers to, however this is in addition to the stone which the church currently has in its possession, his first seer stone, the egg/foot shaped brown stone. “Joseph Smith would put the seer stone into a hat, and put his face in the hat, drawing it closely around his face to exclude the light; and in the darkness the spiritual light would shine. A piece of something resembling parchment would appear, and on that appeared the writing. One character at a time would appear, and under it was the interpretation in English. Brother Joseph would read off the English to Oliver Cowdery, who was his principal scribe, and when it was written down and repeated to Brother Joseph to see if it was correct, then it would disappear, and another character with the interpretation would appear. Thus the Book of Mormon was translated by the gift and power of God, and not by any power of man.” (David Whitmer, An Address to All Believers in Christ, Richmond, Mo.: n.p., 1887, p. 12.) ..Joseph Fielding Smith, as an apostle, made clear that "the Seer Stone which was in the possession of the Prophet Joseph Smith in early days . . . is now in the possession of the Church." Elder Joseph Anderson, Assistant to the Council of the Twelve and long-time secretary to the First Presidency, clarified in 1971 that the "Seer Stone that Joseph Smith used in the early days of the Church is in possession of the Church and is kept in a safe in Joseph Fielding Smith's office.... [The stone is] slightly smaller than a chicken egg, oval, chocolate in color."[26] (This would be Joseph's first, "shoe-shaped stone," which was given to Oliver Cowdery, and then to his brother-in-law Phineas Young, brother of Brigham Young ↑ Van Wagoner and Walker, 58–59 (citations removed). ↑ Van Wagoner and Walker, 58–59 (citations removed). 15. you didn't provide the context in the snippet of back and forth that you provided, so I went with what I had to work with. All the same why engage? to what end?
  16. Your attitude of superiority and holier than thou-ness reeks in your comment. I am not surprised you got jumped on. Comments like this (yours) are why people have the ideas about our faith that they do. You clearly don't approve which is fine but FB is not the forum for stating your disapproval.
  17. Circumstantial evidence points to a marriage between JS and Fannie Alger. I do not view this as an "affair" because he was in fact married, so therefore could not be considered and extramarital affair I view the long gap between marriages as JS trying to preserve some sense of normalcy in his home, it is no secret that Emma was not a fan of plural marriages as a rule and it caused much strife in their marriage. JS was given much information and I think in some cases he didn't know or have the capacity at the time to process all that he was given. Fanny may have been an early misstep? We will never know in this life time.
  18. What did we do before smart phones? Surely it is not to much to ask that they not be in use during the sacrament.
  19. Bruce Gender is a big golfer, if he goes through with the operation will he be allowed to play from the women's tees? If so I cry foul...
  20. While I agree with you and Bytor Bruce is mentally ill. I do not think that he is "gay". In interviews that I have seen he has said that there is no same sex attraction. He needs clinical help,
  21. What if said appendage no longer functions as it should? Rumor has it that he cycled so many steroids during his time as an Olympic athlete that he no longer retains usable function. Would it be ok to cut it of then....seeing as how there is not meaningful use for the unit?
  22. Bruce is mentally ill.... I call him Bruce Gender..lol
  23. Yes they should know the truth about church history.
  24. All doom and gloom. I am not saying that we shouldn't be prepared, but a collapse of the US government? or an unrecoverable collapse of the financial markets? No way, no how....
