Yea, and there shall be many which shall say: Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we die; and it shall be well with us.

And there shall also be many which shall say: Eat, drink, and be merry; nevertheless, fear God—he will justify in committing a little sin; yea, lie a little, take the advantage of one because of his words, dig a pit for thy neighbor; there is no harm in this; and do all these things, for tomorrow we die; and if it so be that we are guilty, God will beat us with a few stripes, and at last we shall be saved in the kingdom of God. (2 Nephi 28:7-8).

I can see the church having its own program and severing ties with BSA because its on now, an across the board agenda push with "civil rights" to back it - regardless of our religious and moral beliefs.

Nothing says you can't, I was just trying to show you the purpose of partaking of the emblems of the sacrament. If your thinking of being baptized there is certainly nothing wrong with it.

Sacrament meetings are open to any who would like to attend regardless of whether they're a member or not. However, if someone hasn't been baptized, partaking of the sacrament isn't necessary (it won't be renewing your baptismal covenant), and since we are witnessing to Heavenly Father that we are worthy of the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost - the gift of the Holy Ghost being given after baptism - it will be more of a token of respect if you know what I mean.

Sacrament prayer said over the bread ~

O God, the Eternal Father, we ask thee in the name of thy Son, Jesus Christ, to bless and sanctify this bread to the souls of all those who partake of it; that they may eat in remembrance of the body of thy Son, and witness unto thee, O God, the Eternal Father, that they are willing to take upon them the name of thy Son [baptized], and always remember him, and keep his commandments which he hath given them, that they may always have his Spirit to be with them [his Spirit, meaning the Holy Ghost]. Amen.

My youngest brother graduated (how, I don't know) from the college of Charleston and really liked the city even though he finally settled down in the upstate. I'm not much for cities myself but here's what I think I know.

    1. in the summer the humidity in the low country...
    2. They have excellent medical facilities at the Medical University of S.C. (MUSC).
    3. Its rich in history and tradition
    4. Charleston sits on a major fault line and in was hit by hurricane Hugo in 1989.
    5. Not too far from Myrtle Beach

Is there something more specific you want to know?

I agree with PC and Anatess that those are more likely scenarios; but I no longer believe those in power in this country have the fortitude to deny Islamists anything they want . . . as evidenced by our recent nuke deal with the Iranians.

This isn't terribly far from where we live. (we are right between tampa and orlando in the woods).
I hate seeing what has been done to Florida-once I could drive down hwy 50 and see nothing between clermont and orlando but orange groves and pastureland. Now there is absolutely NO break between clermont and orlando and the groves and pastures are gone. And yes, I hate Disney and Universal for what they have turned FL into.
Now because of developers the area and surroudning towns where I live has been or is in the process of being rezoned NON agricultural. Understand that this used to be the green bean capital of the world out here-more peppers and peas and cuckes and melons came out of this area and shipped out of the packing houses on trains into the early 90's. No longer since developers moved in.

Now, my family on my dad's side have been farmers and ranchers since before FL was a state-and now the lands out here are being bought up because the farmers and ranchers can no longer afford the taxes because everything was re calssified non agricultural...and subsequently there is more housing developments. THere is a big housing boom going on here now...really big, and very few can afford to farm.
That being said-if this boom has to happen I at least am glad the Church will be a strong presence. I am holding on to the hope that the Church will continue the ranching and groves and such and treat the land and aquifer with respect as they build the city that is planned.
I guess I just liked the old swampy and woodsy Florida best. :)

    Sounds like Griffin likes micromanagement.
Personally, I like the policy in and of itself, coming from the perspective each chartered organization has the right to make reasonable choices for their individual needs.
I'm not in favor of some policy maker checking uo to make sure each unit has x number of gay leaders.

A few years back a friend of mine came to visit. We had not spoken for years. In those years time we had both changed a lot. She also said i was hardly recognizable, because back then i were a bit of a wild cat, but now i were a mormon - and it had made a noticable difference. She had changed as well, but still had a few of the bad habits that we used to share. So we talked all night long. Being mormon isn't a commen thing here in Denmark, so it is not uncommen that people think of it as some sort of cult. Though people does seem to have become in general a bit more informed.

Well, questions came rolling in, and i tried my best to answer them :) and found myself increasingly feeling the spirit as i defended and explained my fondness of my faith, as you do. Much to my surprise i found out that she had felt something too, while talking about it. And for the next months we talked back and forth and within a short time in those months she had begun getting missionary visits.

Long story short, because of all of this she stopped her bad habits one by one and then she was babtised after about six months period.

You never know what happends in people's heart when they see your passion. And how the holy spirit works with them. It certaintly surprised me.

    Hi  :)

James 1:5-7 "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all [men] liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord."

I am of the firm belief that when one repents that they are forgiven and can be exalted in the Celestial Kingdom if they so covenant.  In fact - trying to get to the Celestial Kingdom without repentance - I do not believe is a viable idea.

For the record - it is my experience that avoiding any sin is a lot simpler than going through the process of repenting of it.  But if anyone has made the mistake of trying to enjoy whatever sin - repentance may not initially seem as fun as the sin - but is well worth the effort.

Almost forgot this one from the weekend; there was a swing dance class that I visited, and ran into another LDS who was apparently doing a bit of flirt-to-convert there.

When I was about halfway through the lesson and could almost not trip over my feet for three steps in a row, she said to her date in a stage whisper, "See, it's not that Mormons can't dance, it's just that we shouldn't."
