HARTWELL, Georgia (Associated Press) — A 46-year-old woman strangled a rabid bobcat after the animal attacked her in her front yard in northeast Georgia. The Athens-Banner Herald reports DeDe Phillips of Hart County went outside on June 7th to take a picture when the bobcat lunged at her. She then grabbed the cat by its throat and didn't let go. Ambition, Patience, and Providence.

I may possibly get to one million dollars in investments if my wife and I continue on our current savings plan and average a twelve percent annual interest rate in our mutual fund. It will take a long time. I will be about 63 years old by the time we hit this accumulation and it won't be enough for complete retirement. Medical costs, property taxes, and other various expenses with inflation factored in I will need more. You want to just spend the interest of your investment and not any of your nest egg you have accumulated to make it last. Social Security retirement money is not something I am even counting on being there. -
Star Trek IV is not a great movie after all...
Still_Small_Voice replied to unixknight's topic in General Discussion
This conversation is over Anatess. Heh heh! How can you possibly like the Phantom Menace movie and say the Last Jedi is terrible in comparison? Phantom Menace had a terrible, awful plot line with major holes in it, no character development, awful dialogue. The movie is irrelevant to the Star Wars saga storyline. It has been banned from my house. "Sandstorms are very, very dangerous. Come on. I'll take you to my place." -

I have the greatest respect to all who fought in World War II for the allied forces. All gave some, some gave all. I had two grandfathers that fought in the war in the Pacific against the Japanese. One got a Bronze Star medal for his service. -
Racoon Climbs Twenty-Five Story Building

They will be releasing the captured racoon into the wild at a yet to be determined location. This was an unusual news story and I thought it was interesting and amusing. -
Saint Paul, Minnesota — A raccoon that became an internet sensation by scaling a 25-story office tower in downtown Saint Paul was safely trapped early Wednesday, and animal control officials were preparing to release it back into the wild. Chelsey DeMers, assistant general manager of Wildlife Management Services, said the raccoon was caught in a live trap baited with cat food on top of UBS Plaza before dawn Wednesday. Wildlife Management Services provides animal control services for Saint Paul. Read more at: https://www.ksl.com/article/46341849

Star Trek IV is not a great movie after all...
Still_Small_Voice replied to unixknight's topic in General Discussion
I did not really care for the Star Wars Prequels made by George Lucas. The Star Wars movies I liked were the following: Rogue One -- A New Hope -- Empire Strikes Back -- Return of the Jedi -- The Force Awakens -- The Last Jedi I hated when they made the Solo movie. It does not look or sound like the young Han Solo and we already know what happens to his character. It is boring and I have no desire to see it. I really liked Star Trek II and III. Star Trek IV in my mind was more about comparing 1980s technology with possible technology in a science fiction 24th century. Star Trek VI was also good as was the First Contact Star Trek movie in my opinion. -
There is one thing I like about Donald Trump. I like that he is making the Washington D.C. swamp people angry. It's been by the few and for the few in Washington D.C. for too long. Glad to see they are not getting what they want because it is better for us.

We also know through the scriptures that Mary was not a virgin her whole life. I believe she lived a pure life which included the law of chastity, but Joseph and Mary had a normal marriage relationship after Jesus Christ was born. I believe she also had other children with Joseph as well after Jesus her firstborn.

Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission

I am glad to see the Supreme Court had a favorable ruling toward our First Amendment liberties. -
Mister Shorty, I posted this article for the intent of showing that following God's commandments brings happiness while disobedience brings suffering and pain. I did not say (and if you took it this way I am sorry) that celibacy was a preferred lifestyle. Our Father in Heaven gave us sexual relations in the marriage covenant for procreation and to help bring a man and woman happiness in their mortal lives.

God's commandments are the way of happiness. When we choose the opposite we are choosing unhappiness. This is part of this woman's testimony after leaving an immoral lifestyle and needs to be read over and over again: "Our flesh tries numerous tactics to deceive us, promising us that if we use God’s gifts in our own ways, we’ll create a better life. It’s as old as the garden [of Eden]. But money, power, family, health, rest — every good thing God dreamed up for us — crumbles and rots when we snatch it out of His hand. A yes to temptation is a yes to disappointment [and] pain . . ." On Love, on Charity, and on Salvation.
Still_Small_Voice replied to 2ndRateMind's topic in General Discussion
There are a few more societies that have done this in the past. The people in the Americas after being visited by Christ lived the law of consecration for about one hundred fifty to two hundred years. Some of the Saints under the first Apostles also had "all things common among them" (see the book of 4th Nephi verse 3). Then the people who lived under Melchizedek may have also had this society but I can find no record of it. -
I pray almost everyday for our freedoms and liberties in America. It seems the First and Second Amendments are being attacked continually presently. I would encourage everyone to also pray continually for our liberties. It is wrong to try to make a Christian do something that is completely against God's design for marriage. We believe marriage is between a man and a woman.

I used to work at a casino as a security guard then a warehouse worker. It paid the bills but I did not feel good about my work. Our business lied to people about all the money they would win and instead played them with manipulative and deceitful games where most of our clients would lose money. They would increase their profits by getting the gamblers drunk. I liked our restaurants, buffet and hotel, but I did not like the casino. I got training in Information Technology and moved to a new location. Now I work helping the United States Armed Forces keep their computer running. I feel much better about my employment now and my life. Thankfully I am also making significantly more money than I was working at a casino.

I have watched the movie Saving Private Ryan a number of times and felt it did not glorify violence at all. What I saw was a small piece of the horrors of war and the price of freedom and what it costs. Arlington National Park and many cemeteries around the world are full of people that paid the steep price of liberty which is blood and lives. Sadly there are too many in our generation and the younger generations that are forgetting these stories and lessons.

Story from good to bad. We both had affairs.
Still_Small_Voice replied to Zeniff's topic in Marriage and Relationship Advice
I can only imagine the pain you and your wife have had to deal with. The commandments are the way of happiness and I know that sin leads to suffering. Hopefully your wife sees that sexual sin is literally as enjoyable eating raw sewage and will begin to change her life though she has a very long road ahead of her. I feel sorrow for you both. I hope you both find the path back that leads to the Redeemer and the tree of life even if it takes years of struggling and pain. It is worth it whatever the cost.- 24 replies

Sexual Harassment and General weirdness
Still_Small_Voice replied to Sunday21's topic in Support in Hard Times
I'm sorry you have to deal with this Sunday21. I hope this situation gets better. Someone I know was being stalked who was living with me. He had done violent things to his wife in the past. If he ever would have set foot in my house he might have been shot because I am armed a lot of times at home. Authorities told him he was not allowed around my house. Thankfully he has stayed away thus far. -
What to do with about 700 pounds wheat. Ideas?
Still_Small_Voice replied to Still_Small_Voice's topic in General Discussion
Here is a follow up on this subject. I have finally ground up a full bucket of wheat. I only have about fifty more buckets to go. Someone else in my ward is wanting whole wheat flour so I have been grinding it up and giving it to this family. -
Duke Evans was beyond surprised when he spotted dozens of goats in his neighbor’s yard near 300 West and 600 South in Salt Lake City. He said out of nowhere they appeared, surrounded by an electric fence Tuesday morning. “I thought, ‘What the heck is going on with the goats,’” Evans said. “That’s the first time I’ve ever seen that.” After doing some digging, he found out from neighbors that the 26 animals were there to help clean up the yard. Margot Kidder (Lois Lane) is now dead
Still_Small_Voice replied to Still_Small_Voice's topic in Current Events
I have empathy for Margot Kidder and the mental issues she had. I remember reading that she was homeless at one point because of all the issues associated with her mental problems. Hopefully she was ready to meet the LORD when she died. -
Today, the world mourns the loss of the iconic Lois Lane many grew up with. Margot Kidder, the actress most well known for the role in the 1978 hit “Superman: The Movie” has passed away at the age of 69. Kidder began acting in the 1960s and skyrocketed to fame with her role as Lois Lane opposite Christopher Reeves as Superman. Life under a communist government: Despite the fact that Romania was a country rich in resources, there were shortages everywhere. Food, electricity, water, and just about every one of life's necessities were in short supply. The apartment building in which we lived provided hot water for showers two hours in the morning and two hours at night. When milk, butter, eggs, and yogurt were temporarily available, my mom—like so many others of our neighbors—would wake up at 2:00 a.m. to go stand in line so she'd have the chance to get us these goodies. The store would open at 6:00 a.m., so if she wasn't early enough in line she'd miss the opportunity. In 1982, the state sent their disciples to people's homes to do the census. Along with that, food rationing was implemented. For a family of four like us, our rationed quota was 1 kilogram of flour and 1 kilogram of sugar per month. That is, if they were available and if we were lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time when they were being distributed. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Where do I sign up? Ugh, what a terrible quality of life.

I wish they would look into nuclear Thorium as a power source. They ran nuclear reactors on it in the past. We have far far more of Thorium than Uranium in the United States. Refined Uranium is also more expensive than Platinum or Gold. (Gold is trading at about $1,320 per 31.1 grams on 5-11-2018.) I also heard that if they re-process Uranium they can use it again for more electric power generation. In the nuclear process only 10% of the Uranium is used up and then they just put it in to permanent storage to rest for thousands of years. What a waste of Uranium and money in my opinion.
