  1. I looked it up. Petra Falcor is a .300 Winchester Magnum AR-10 type of rifle that has a manufacturer suggested price of over $5,000. I also hear that .300 Winchester Magnum rifle barrels only last about 3,000 to 4,000 rounds. The rifling or throat gets burned out because the caliber is so powerful. It's a very long range rifle. It is too expensive for me to consider but certainly not under an under powered firearm.
  2. I liked the film Star Trek IV. The movie was comparing 1986 technology to possible technology in a science fiction 24th century. I wonder if during the millenium we will have any space travel at all? Do not bother seeing Star Trek V. Oh that was an awful terrible movie. I watch movie clips and laugh at it for how bad the film is.
  3. I felt the power of the fourth on the fifth of May. I went and saw the Infinity Wars movie. It was a dark story but a great movie.
  4. I like the 7.62 x 51 round. I own a firearm chambered in it already. The AR-10 is also a good rifle choice. I am looking at an intermediate range rifle and .300 AAC Blackout is getting very popular and it uses common AR-15 magazines. I can see the supersonic and subsonic ammo on Wal-Mart shelves now and in all gun stores. I am only interested in supersonic .300 Blackout. The secondary caliber I would have for an AR-15 is 9 millimeter Luger. You can find 9 millimeter everywhere.
  5. The great Nephite nation was broke apart before the Savior came. I believe it will likely happen in the United States within the next thirty-five years with the huge differences in political beliefs we see rending this nation apart. We see people rejecting the Constitution and calling for a repeal of the Second Amendment and other rights. Many people believe they are entitled to the bread and garments of the laborer with little or no work. About 55% of the nation does not subscribe to rejecting the Bill of Rights and a socialist state. I think in addition to water, food storage and some bullion metals getting training on learning to use firearms and picking a good semi automatic rifle as part of that is a good decision. I hated the AR-15 for the longest time because of the 5.56 x 45 round until I saw many different rifle calibers that were available in the platform. The .300 AAC Blackout and the 6.5 x 39 Grendel are great rifle calibers in the AR-15. I have even seen 9 millimeter Luger available for the AR-15 which is a very very common pistol round that can be used for pleasure shooting and training.
  6. What Gospel knowledge makes you joyful? The Gospel literally means "good news." The definition of the Gospel is found in III Nephi chapter 27 verses 13 and 14: "Behold I have given unto you my gospel, and this is the gospel which I have given unto you—that I came into the world to do the will of my Father, because my Father sent me. And my Father sent me that I might be lifted up upon the cross; and after that I had been lifted up upon the cross, that I might draw all men unto me, that as I have been lifted up by men even so should men be lifted up by the Father, to stand before me, to be judged of their works, whether they be good or whether they be evil—" Also reading I John 2:1 Inspired Version casts more light on this: "My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin and repent, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous" Knowing that Christ is the Mediator with the Father for anyone who is faithful unto the end with the LORD brings me joy. I imagine how joyful the paradise of God is for the saints who dwell there. I do not think I have another fifty years in this life but it matters not if I am faithful until the day I depart mortality. A great reward and treasure awaits all the saints of God.
  7. I also have been reading about the military and 5.56 x 45. They are not too happy with the round as they have found modern enemy body armor defeats it. I have disliked the 5.56 x 45 rifle round for quite some time. I felt it was a less effective rifle round and never wanted a firearm chambered in it. Right now the military is testing out a 6.5 millimeter round to replace the 5.56. It's too bad the military does not take a more serious look at the 6.5 x 39 Grendel round. It is a very effective rifle round that feeds from an AR-15 receiver with a change of the rifle upper parts. It has an effective range of longer than 450 meters.
  8. Here is a thought on the Second Amendment I just recently read and I think it is accurate. The “militia” the framers had in mind was independent of the government. Today the National Guard and reserves are government entities. They may or may not stand up to unlawful government orders. Our Founding Fathers knew that a citizen militia couldn’t win a war against a government. While the Minute men were successful against the English at Lexington and Concord, they couldn’t defeat a professional army. They fought bravely at Bunker Hill, but were defeated. What an armed citizen militia could do was to discourage government overreach and, if necessary, give their side time to build a force that could win.
  9. California is about to enact a law that will ban any form of speech or written material that is critical of same-sex sexuality. The following is from Robert J. Gagnon: The bill in question is California Assembly Bill 2943. It would treat as a criminal violation of the state’s consumer fraud act “the sale or lease of goods or services to any consumer” that consists of “advertising, offering to engage in, or engaging in sexual orientation change efforts with an individual.” Don’t be misled into thinking that this bill bans only professional counselors from trying to alter same-sex attractions. It goes well beyond that. Read more at: https://godfatherpolitics.com/new-california-bill-would-mean-banning-the-bible/ ------------------------------------------- I think if they pass this bill it will be struck down in the courts. I doubt the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals will rule in favor of the First Amendment. But a higher Court will strike this down.
  10. I was disappointed reading stories about parents getting arrested or threatened with arrest for leaving a nine old to play at a park or letting an eight year old walk to school. Some people think that kids are twenty five year olds that need to live in the basement and play their video games all day while they discover themselves. We need to give children work and responsibilities so they can grow up and learn. I used to be gone for up to three hours plus at time playing out the fields and at a creek near where I used to live.
  11. I think in the majority of most States Americans still believe in the Second Amendment. There are about nine States that really infringe the people's right to keep and bear arms. In my research I believe it is the following States: California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island. Vermont used to be a State that really respected Second Amendment Liberties but is just about to pass some terrible laws.
  12. I know someone that struggled with pornography and masturbation for over 25 years. He decided that he would never give up after many years of struggling and continued to pray and fight for purity in his life. He still struggles in his life but is warring daily in spiritual warfare and is slowly overcoming in his life. What Christ said on this subject is: " . . . If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily, and follow Me." ( Luke 9:23) Receiving eternal life and being clean before the LORD's Judgment seat at the last day is worth the sacrifices and all the struggles in this mortal life. Do not despair. I will also repeat what Jane Doe said: the proper use of the sex in this life brings joy to a husband and wife. Heavenly Father created the plan of salvation so that we can experience life, return to His presence, and have joy. Central to this plan are the spiritual, emotional, and physical unity developed in marriage and family life. He gave us the capacity for physical intimacy so that we could strengthen and grow our eternal families. He intends for sex to be a beautiful, powerful, and joyful part of our lives—not something evil or corrupt. Sex enables a husband and a wife to have children, express love, and strengthen their spiritual, emotional, and physical bonds. Sexual intimacy is an important part of marriage, and when it is used in the way that God has commanded, it brings great blessings and joy. While many in the world portray sex as casual or crude, the gospel teaches that sexuality is a powerful gift from Heavenly Father and that it should be used within the bounds He has set, with wisdom and reverence. -- Family Home Evening: Sexual Intimacy Is Sacred and Beautiful
  13. I believe this also works. Setting spiritual goals, reviewing them everyday and praying everyday for success with scripture study has brought much more spiritual power into my life.
  14. I left a toxic, stressful work environment nearly a year ago. Right now I am doing much better than if I would have remained at my old place of employment and I am happy. My income is now about ten percent higher and my new job is much better. Heavenly Father will help you BackRoads. Pray to Him for peace and healing continually. Seek whatever help you need in your healing process. The Atonement of Christ not only cleanses sin it heals pain, anguish and heartache.
  15. I am interested to see the movie "Paul, An Apostle of Christ" being released soon. Heard also that the movie "I Can Only Imagine" is good as well.

  17. I gave away about 7 pounds of ground up whole wheat flour to my neighbor. His wife wants to make bread with it. I am going to grind up more for them. Still looking for other ways to use up this massive amount of wheat.
  18. I don't think the government has any right to tell you that you need to put your children through a background check or your good neighbor you've known for years in order to give/sell them a private firearm. It's your property. The form 4473 you are required to fill out to purchase a gun are also being illegally gathered by Federal organizations and stored permanently into databases. This is against current United States laws and it is immoral. I know California has lists of all guns sold through Federal Firearm License Dealers. They have been keeping records of this since around the year 1990. These lists will very likely be used to try to confiscate private firearms in the next 75 years. Many gun registrations have been used in the past to take firearms away from the general population. Read through history and you will see it over and over again. One thing States can do is start reporting the violent felonies people are convicted of to the national instant check system that bar them from possessing firearms. Some States were not reporting up to 80 percent of the felonies that would have barred people from purchasing guns from Federal Firearm License Dealers.
  19. Mirkwood, I do not plan of getting rid of my food storage. I just want to get other food that I will use. I do not mind having about 75 pounds of wheat but 700 pounds of wheat with me will just likely go to waste.
  20. I think I am going to look up local Utah food pantries and ask them if they want whole wheat flour. I will grind it up and deliver it every few weeks if they want it. I will follow up and let you know what I find out. Edit: I inherited this food storage from my brother who gave it to me when he moved away to Texas. He did not have room for it.
  21. My family has consumed about 1 or 2 pounds of wheat flour in about five years since I had all the wheat. I wish to trade it for white rice, or raw honey, sell it or give it to charities. I might keep about 75 pounds of the wheat.
  22. I have about 700 pounds of wheat in my food storage. It is close to ten years old. There is no way my family will consume this food in the next fifteen years. I wish to sell it for a modest price, exchange it for other food storage or give it away slowly to charitable organizations. I have a wheat grinder and can grind the wheat to flour for others. Any ideas on how I can use this commodity to bless others who are less fortunate and will use it? I see too many Latter-Day Saints acquire food storage and then wastefully throw it out after it goes bad. This is sad to me and I do not wish to do this.
  23. The problem I see with some people demanding more restrictions on civilian guns is almost all are really uneducated regarding firearms and the laws we already have. Those demanding more laws look at guns as instruments of death rather than tools that can save your life. I believe firearms in civilian hands likely save about 100,000 people per year in America (but the number is actually very difficult to figure out). Most of this is the deterrent factor. (It is a line of thinking such as I don't want to break in to that house while those people are home, they may shoot me.) We do not need magazine capacity restrictions, raising the age limit, bump stock bans or waiting periods when purchasing firearms. We have all the firearm laws we need. What we need is more enforcement on current laws, and well trained, concealed carry armed personnel in schools and in other locations to make things harder for those who wish to murder people. Murderers are not deterred by laws but they are stopped by force.
  24. I have been praying a lot for what freedoms we have left in the United States Constitution. The First and Second Amendments are really under attack lately. I have faith that the LORD will preserve liberty in parts of the United States. Those areas that turn away from God and the Constitution will lose their liberty. Read and study Alma chapter 46: 11 And now it came to pass that when Moroni, who was the a chief commander of the armies of the Nephites, had heard of these dissensions, he was angry with Amalickiah. 12 And it came to pass that he rent his coat; and he took a piece thereof, and wrote upon it— In memory of our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children—and he fastened it upon the end of a pole. 13 And he fastened on his headplate, and his breastplate, and his shields, and girded on his armor about his loins; and he took the pole, which had on the end thereof his rent coat, (and he called it the title of liberty) and he bowed himself to the earth, and he prayed mightily unto his God for the blessings of liberty to rest upon his brethren, so long as there should a band of Christians remain to possess the land—
  25. I remember when this happened. I went out to see this wonderful sight of the moon and the sky was completely clouded over. Too bad for me.
