  1. I never knew presently that women in Relief Society 18 years and older are about 51 percent are single. I wonder what the percentage of single men is over the age of 21 in the Church?
  2. I love that song. I also really liked "The Sword in the Stone" movie as well. Merlin always wanting to use his magic for something useful.
  3. One of the most misinterpreted passages of scripture is: “Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged; and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again." -- Matthew 7:1-2 The Joseph Smith Translation reads: "Now these are the words which Jesus taught his disciples that they should say unto the people: Judge not unrighteously, that ye be not judged; but judge righteous judgment. For with what judgment ye shall judge, ye shall be judged; and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again." Matthew 7:1-3 The Inspired Version instructs us to judge righteous judgments. Judging if a person is worthy of marrying is a righteous judgment. It should involve a lot of prayer and fasting in my opinion.
  4. Your information is wrong. You cannot turn off Automatic Updates in Windows 10 without hacking. I attempted it on my wife's computer. I turned the Automatic Updates off and a few weeks later software updates installed. No one turned them back on. Selecting disabled sharing in Windows 10 is also an illusion. The Windows 10 operating system feeds information to Microsoft on a continual basis. You install Windows 10 enjoy Microsoft controlling your computer. You do not control your computer short of shutting off all Internet access or hacking the operating system.
  5. Enjoy the illusion of controlling your computer. I have discovered without hacking Windows 10 software updates cannot be turned off. When forced Windows 10 updates are pushed to your machine the below may happen to you: Twice per year you may need to re-install software deemed not required by Microsoft that they may remove Your preferences (including privacy settings) may be be reset to default, so you'll need to go through them regularly to change them again. Some Metro applications may be re-installed if you deleted them previously. Expect your group policy settings and tweaks to be completely removed or changed and the only way to get them back is to change to Windows 10 Enterprise. Certain software titles and drivers may cease to work. Thank goodness 64-bit Linux Mint version 18 is such a great operating system. I do not have to put up with the poor quality refuse Microsoft releases anymore.
  6. I found this article interesting. Most businesses are hanging on to Windows 7 and I can see why. As of March 2017 about 69 percent of businesses were still using Windows 7. Only 9 percent were using Windows 10. I work with Windows 10 at work and hate it. It is the worst operating system I have ever worked with in my Information Technology career. https://community.spiceworks.com/networking/articles/2628-windows-10-adoption-surges-yet-businesses-still-hang-on-to-windows-xp-and-vista
  7. Baghdad – After more than three years of combat operations, Iraq announced Saturday that the fight against the Islamic State group is over after the country’s security forces drove the extremists from all of the territory they once held. Iraqi and American officials warned, however, that key challenges remain despite the military victory. 8. You are assuming both prophecies in the books of Joel and Revelation of the sun and moon being darkened are linked together. They may not be linked. It is my own belief anyway on the fulfillment of Joel chapter 3 verse 15. I do not know if Christ is coming in three years or another one hundred years. It does not matter to me. When I die I am going to meet the LORD either in white robes or in my sins depending on how I live my life.
  9. Joel 3:15 reads: " The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining.shall withdraw their shining. " I believe this prophecy was fulfilled around the year 1990. Ever watch the "Fires of Kuwait" documentary? Iraqi military forces after invading Kuwait lit hundreds of oil wells on fire before withdrawing from the country. In the middle of day it looked like night over there. The sun, the moon, and the stars were darkened. It is amazing what restoration workers accomplished in the time they did as they went in to Kuwait to fix the massive destruction. Watch the very interesting documentary here:
  10. I come in here to this thread expecting to see some pictures of Christmas. It is a morbid Halloween Christmas in here!
  11. I really like this one: Question: One of my Church leaders did things that hurt my trust. How can I get over it? Elder Ballard: "Please remember that at some point in your life, you may disappoint and fail others too. Some of those you fail may be family members, Church brothers and sisters and friends. No father, mother or child is perfect; no professor or student is perfect; no missionary or mission president is perfect. The Lord provided the only real solution to living with other mortals. He asks us to forgive and love one another and stay on as the “Trek Continues”— as I said last general conference."
  12. How much cash do you think people should consider having in their homes Needle?
  13. One thing people seem to forget in emergency preparation is having cash for possible purchases. If the power goes out for a while you will not be able to buy anything. I am of the opinion people should keep the following in their homes in addition to their other emergency preparations: 15 - $1s 5 - $5s 5 - $10s 20 - $20s 4 - $50s Any thoughts on this?
  14. I wish I would have said no to getting solar panels on my house. We have about $33,000 of debt now. What were we thinking? Payments on them will likely be over $270 per month. My electric bill was not even near this per month. Too expensive and not worth it
  15. I believe what Alma wrote on this subject: "Use boldness, but not overbearance; and also see that ye bridle all your passions, that ye may be filled with love; see that ye refrain from idleness." -- Alma 38:12 When I was younger I used to believe sexual passions were a necessary evil. I have learned that we need to bridle them and not seek to completely suppress and destroy them. Just as a horse can run freely and at full speed sometimes it still needs to be under control. A wild horse would be dangerous to handle or ride. As we tame our passions we can use them for good. Regular physical intimacy between a husband and wife is good if used in the proper manner. I believe Heavenly Father created sexual relations for these reasons: For Procreation For Unity (to bring a couple close together, but this unity may not always come before sex, but may come later as a result of sex) For physical pleasure For relief of physical and emotional stress and to comfort one another Sacrifice & Submission – husbands are called to sacrifice themselves by giving their bodies to their wives, and wives are commanded to submit their bodies to their husbands. (See I Corinthians 7:3-5.) To bring us out of our comfort zone, to be able to love our spouse not as we would desire to be loved, but as they would desire to be loved
  16. Grunt I hope you do not live in Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey or Maryland. They have terrible laws that infringe on private firearm ownership. As I stated earlier, criminalizing self defense is what corrupt tyrannies do.
  17. Tyrants will never give up until your privately owned gun is legally required to be disassembled in two different locked safes with the ammunition locked in a third separate safe. Magazines over five rounds are banned from legal ownership and you are no longer able to legally own a handgun. If you own one of these legally owned firearms be prepared to accept random searches from police officers verifying your gun is locked up according to law. Only corrupt tyrants seek to outlaw self defense. This being said I do not believe the 2nd Amendment gives unlimited rights to arms. I am against people owning fully automatic firearms. A semi-automatic 30 round firearm should be sufficient for self defense. I do not believe it should be legal for people to own hand grenades or rocket propelled grenades. Watch footage of someone firing an M-134 machine gun. 3,000 to 4,000 rounds per minute of .30 caliber 147 grain bullets being fired. Definitely too powerful for private citizens in my own opinion. I think they cost over $100,000 anyway. Full automatic firearms have heavy restrictions and for the most part are illegal anyway. No further laws are needed.
  18. This needs to be shouted from the rooftops and shown over and over. Gratitude is the antidote for covetousness.
  19. Have ever heard this protest from a child: “It just isn’t fair!” When a cake or pie needs to be cut up and shared among siblings, children love to carefully scrutinize each piece to ensure they get their fair share. This might make parents smile, but how often do we do the same as grownups? Do we sometimes scrutinize others’ lives and compare them with our own? This can lead to a feeling that life “owes” us something; we feel entitled to exactly the same blessings everybody else has. We look around and see people who seem to have perfect health, perfect families, or an abundance of material wealth, and we might wonder why they got a bigger slice of the pie than we did. Of course, challenges and adversities, blessings and opportunities, never match point for point. Measuring our happiness against what others appear to have is rarely an accurate comparison anyway. For one thing, we don’t know the details of people’s lives or the hidden burdens they carry. And if we did, we might be surprised how blessed we really are in comparison. When two little boys came to their mother complaining that life wasn’t fair, she sat down with them and taught them about all the people who had no shoes, no opportunity for education, no loving family to care for them, and very little food to eat. One boy caught the message and realized that if life really were fair, his life might be quite different. “I guess I’m lucky life isn’t fair,” he said. He didn’t lose his desire for fairness, but after that, it no longer led him to want more for himself; rather, it inspired him to reach out in compassion to the less fortunate. Yes, life often is unfair—usually in our favor. But even when we do have troubles that seem unmerited, even when we have problems and worries that seem overwhelming, it might help to take a moment to enlarge our perspective. This may include humbly counting our blessings and giving thanks for the good things we have. More often than not, such thoughts inspire us to make life just a little more fair by sharing our blessings with others.
  20. Anatess you should have an idea of where all the money is and where your life insurance policy is if you do not know. If your husband dies you could be setting yourself up for financial disasters. I would talk to him and get these things in order. I know I am under insured for my life insurance. $265,000 is not enough to replace my income for long. All my wife will have is about 6 years of security about with frugal spending. If a bread winner has no life insurance then that is just irresponsible. Be nice to your family. No one plans on dying young but it happens sometimes.
  21. I also struggle in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Ever since my teenage years I have struggled with weakness. I think my struggles will be life long. But I count it joy for what I have to deal with when I see trials others bear that would crush me. Many saints struggle in their walk with the LORD through out their lives. The Apostle Paul I think was haunted by the christians he help throw into prison and those he persecuted in his early life. Know that you will be required to take up the cross daily and follow the LORD. Keep enduring Scott and do not give up. Alma taught if we know more than desire to believe let this continue to work in you. Let the desire to believe and have faith in Christ continue to work in you
  22. It's hard to believe this happened half a millenium ago. Who would have known that Martin Luther would have been such an influence in the world?
  23. On Oct. 31, 1517, 500 years ago, a relatively unknown German monk named Martin Luther purportedly nailed his “95 Theses” to the large church doors marking the entrance to Schlosskirche Church in Wittenberg. Contrary to popular belief, Luther’s dramatic act was never meant to spark a theological revolution. Luther’s 95 Theses, which outlined numerous perceived problems with the established Christian churches in Germany and throughout Europe, was written in Latin, not the common German language, and was directed toward his fellow academics and students at the University of Wittenberg. 24. Here is something to experience in Las Vegas. Driving 150 miles per hour on a race track. I want to do ten laps with this eventually: http://www.dreamracing.com/the-experiences-mobile-new/ There is also zip lining in Las Vegas high up in the air from one building to another. Edit: Leave the drinking, gambling and prostitution of Las Vegas to others while you get to experience the great stuff it has to offer. There are also amusement park rides on top of a very high up building. I do not know if I could handle that. It would be terrifying I think. The zip line is about 490 feet up in the air and costs about $30 for one trip. Take a look at this here: https://www.lasvegaspass.com/las-vegas-attractions/VooDoo-Zip-Line.html?aid=169&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Non-Brand|Search|USA-MST&utm_term=zipline las vegas&utm_content=Rio Zip Line - E
  25. I know I should feel sorrow for Hugh Heffner but I do not. He was a whoremonger who was a tool of the enemy that help corrupt the souls of many men with his pornography. I am disgusted at what he did in his life and how he wasted the days of his probation. Sexual relations were meant to be something wonderful and satisfying in marriage between a husband and wife. What the world has done with God's gift to men and women is truly sad.
