Both choices require perfect information, which many times is unobtainable.
So it can be a conundrum.

Very interesting. But rule eleven makes no sense at all.

Simply not possible in our interdependent world. Unless we wish to always be relatively impoverished.

In all sincerity, and with no offense intended to your well thought out post, I think that the causes of same sex attraction are ultimately unimportant; what is important is that it is a real thing that exists, and that God commands us not to act or seek to fulfill the desire.  What is important is that we openly acknowledge the existence of these temptations and strive to be a support to those who experience them and still sincerely desire to keep God's commandments.

Soon after we married, my wife and I rented this movie. Classic movie with Audrey Hepburn—how can you lose? We started watching, and we kept waiting for it to get good. We waited literally through the whole thing, then looked at each other and said, "Why is that a classic movie?"

I wish I could find the video I watched on Youtube that was a social experiment. The experiment was based from computer analytics that used a scale of 1 to 10 for men's physical appearance. The study defined specific features that determined how physically attractive a man was.
It was interesting to see when women were just shown the picture how they rated men's attractiveness didn't vary much, the result was expected.
They used the same pictures allowing women to see the annual income of each male they were viewing. In this study the most unattractive man went from a 1 to a 8 and above. The most attractive male in the pictures went from a 10 to a 6.

mrmarklin reacted to The Folk Prophet in Why Do We Bless Our Food?
We give thanks for and bless our food because that is the example Christ set for us:
    Matt. 15:35–36
“And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.
“And he took the seven loaves and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.”
    Luke 9:16
“Then he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed them, and brake, and gave to the disciples to set before the multitude.”

Men and women can be "just friends" provided:
    1. They never hang out together
    or
    2. Neither party is attracted to the other
Both scenarios are unlikely. If you are attracted to someone, the likelihood of you being friends, spending time together, and not having feelings for them is about as likely as me nailing jello to a tree.  And as such, I have only one female friend, my wife.

I pretty much agree with all but #4 "Welfare benefits or compassionate laws specific to the homeless population.  People don't choose to be homeless - they end up homeless for a reason beyond one's control.  A lot of these compassionate benefits try to be compassionate to these people to offer them relief from poverty but they don't address the reason the people ended up homeless in the first place.  Tokyo is a good example of how compassionate laws can work to address poverty."
The people I see and I am in SF right now, want to be homeless, they don't want to conform to the norms of society where they have to follow rules and obey laws. They are addicted to drugs or are otherwise mentally ill and need to be in a care facility and medicated.
Barring natural disaster no one "ends up homeless" being homeless in America is a choice.

This is just my personal opinion. Blessing an animal benefits and perhaps teaches the humans listening. As said in an earlier post blessings are based based on the faith of the receiver and the person giving the blessing.
Not sure animals were charged with having faith and proving it in the life like the humans can and should do.

You got a really strange understanding of what God’s Judgement looks like.  Did you forget that Jesus was killed by the Romans with the Jews yelling out to crucify him?   And they even told Jesus that if He’s really the Son of God then he could just save himself.  Did he?
Yes, it is your obligation to authenticate Joseph Smith’s claim.  Nobody can authenticate it for you.  You have to kneel down and ASK GOD to reveal the truth to you.  Now, why aren’t you doing so?

I don't see 2nd Corinthians as forbidding solitary visits from Jesus or Heavenly Father.  I see it as saying that you don't necessarily have to accept the word of a single person if they say they were visited.  I had an institute teacher (gospel classes for college-age students) who held the position that as members of our Church, we do not really need to have a testimony of Joseph's First Vision because there was only one witness.  But like @Moresquoted in John 8 that Jesus testified of Himself and His Father was the second witness, I think the Holy Ghost can be our second witness when praying about Joseph's First Vision.

mrmarklin reacted to Latter-Day Marriage in How do I tell someone I can't date due to temple worthiness?
I don't see you as having any obligation to tell him the details, if you were engaged then that would be appropriate, but not before then.
Like MM said above, just tell him you can't get into a serious relationship right now, but you value your connection with him and hope that once you are ready you can move forward together.  If he asks for detail just say it's too personal.
That being said, someday you will be engaged to somebody, and you should tell them about it before the wedding.  For one reason, he needs to make the choice to marry you knowing your past.  Second, you need to know that he loves you warts and all.  You don't want to start a marriage on a lie of ommission and always wonder what will happen when he finds out.  Someday he will find out and it is better you tell him up front before the wedding then make him feel like you tricked him into marrying you.  Yes, he might leave you when you tell him like that other guy did, but that is better than a divorce, especially if kids are involved.

I have wondered if this is a prelude to other things (change) to come.  I am convinced that nothing happens without reason and as time has altered our social structure so will the ordinances of G-d conform to accommodate social changes in civil law.  As traditional marriage and family has become a threat to social justice; a growing number have decided that a union between a man and a woman should not define lawful marriage - I have pondered if the day will come when marriages are no longer performed in temples - only sealings.  This would be necessary if enemies of the traditional family and the Church attempted to force the Church to perform homosexual marriages to maintain legal licence to marry.  So, in essence the Church would no longer perform marriages (either in the temple or outside the temple, such as a bishop performing a marriage for time only).
This would mean that all marriages would be performed according to civil and lawful authority (from which the Church would voluntarily withdraw) and that only sealing would be performed in the temple.  So I ponder if The L-rd is setting the table to preserve the ordinance of sealing without conflicting with changes to civil law.   Those that are rejoicing in such policy changes may not realize the winds that are causing the sails to be set differently are not signalling better times - but rather a widening of the gap separating the Saints of G-d from the world.

I’ve had my beefs with HCO’s methods ever since I was a student there, and I understand some of the most obnoxious players are still employed by BYU twenty years later.  I’m not inclined to defend their actions.
But what gets me is, these student maggots are getting a $40K education for $5K, with the Church making up the difference; and they have the gall to say the honor code shouldn’t apply at all?
I almost want to call their bluff:  “Fine, you can go to BYU and not have the honor code apply to you, IF you are willing to pay market rate for your tuition.  Otherwise, Honor Code still applies.”  Let’s see how many of these entitled, narcissistic, oversexed brats take that deal.
