  1. Maybe you are "cool" or maybe you are not 'wishy washy' like so many others out there. dc
  2. It is sweet, Gator, but it just so happens that Pam is taking me with her, not you, so you can just remember that. As to the 50 history sites, some were good but some were a little obscure. Like, for California I think they might better have used one of the fantastic Temples here or the Mormon Batallion Museum in San Diego. A few weeks ago I went down to the San Diego Temple (wonderful) and wanted to get to the MBMuseum at the same time, but wasn't able to. Next time for sure. dc
  3. Gator You are right they can only change their own mind, but when they see truth repeated enough, they understand. There are far more followers in this world than leaders. And the followers are constantly being fed disinformation, like the absurd fantasy that the gun commits the crime, not the criminal. dc
  4. Decisively. I would say decisively, one way or the other. I think that would be the way. You have to weigh and balance and determine if you want to go without the hair style or just be late for the reception. How close to the wedding participants are you? Brother or sister or just casual acquaintance? All the peripheral and classy people come in late anyway. But if you were to serve the cake or anything, just put a bandana on your head and go. (And roll up your sleeves) dc
  5. Carbie I can't like what you have there. But I can appreciate what Sen Cotton says. And I'm glad you posted it to let people know the truth. dc
  6. That isn't the way I have seen it, and tho' I've only been a member just over a year, I have seen it over the last 66 years. dc
  7. Anatess As usual I think you have some brilliant ideas. I don't have kids, so this would never have happened to me. But second, I would never have let them move in if I did have kids. And I think for anybody that does let someone move in like that, the giving all the money to the head of household idea is excellent. I have a very extremely strong suspicion, that, if faced with that option upon moving in, many of the people in those situations would not move in. Problem solved. dc
  8. And if your grandmother had wings, she could fly, right? The problem is, you never know where. And one very likely place is that place officially designated as "GUN FREE ZONE". That sign in reality means "SITTING DUCKS TO BE FOUND HERE". Like a lot of things, it's nice to not need one, and have it, rather than not have it and need it. dc
  9. Please tell me they are. The last thing in the world I want to be is a sitting duck. dc
  10. Nightie What are you talking about? You can't have your wives living together like that. They would compare notes. Each one has to have their own house. And then when the mother in law visits, you don't have to be there. You're in one of the other houses. dc
  11. I think you are right, it would do more harm than good. It would fall on deaf ears, I think. She sounds like a rather self righteous type who would only see any remark you make as a challenge. But now you see why the daughter is as she usually is. And also is probably quite willing to blame that on anything but the real cause. There is an article on lds.net main page that addresses this issue. Something about a kind word. Or just silence. dc
  12. Sunday21 you have said it perfectly. I wish I would have taken that attitude many years ago when I got married. It would have saved both of us a lot of grief. dc
  13. And then some. I tried to post some photos, but they disappeared. So, I give up. dc
  14. What? Another Mr Mac fan? We have one in our stake. He frequently tells stories about them, I guess a father and son team. And so many of the Apostles and Presidents got their suits there. I should take a look. I'm going to be in Utah next week. dc
  15. Oh come on!. That is obviously a calculation for an arab terrorist bomb.. Even I as an Average American can see that. He got off easy. dc
  16. I can imagine. However, we don't have any in our ward, or stake for that matter, as far as I know. I guess we have a pretty good ward, but we are mostly in a good area. dc
  17. No, I show up for everything. And usually early, too. dc
  18. I was called in. So it wasn't like a "personal decision" or something. But, I have been impressed with the number of various dinners. About all the 'free' dinners, I have said "this is the best church ever". So I could have joined just for the free dinners. And yes, being old, single and retired, I could have joined just to have something to do. But it wasn't really like that. For one thing, I had no idea from the outside what it was like on the inside of the church. dc
  19. I like what he did. From my reading of the story and a glance at a video of the "towee" it is clear she is a "professional victim" and "professionally disabled" and would probably accuse him of something, so she could then sue. So I think he made a wise decision. dc
  20. I got home today from the San Diego Temple and I didn't check the news headlines. I feel fine. dc
  21. Well, if I recall correctly, it's much better with cream actually. And hey, we were Northerners or Northern Aggressors, if you prefer, central Michigan. I think it was either tv or a magazine that we got the idea from. But who knows. Maybe a Southerner sneaked into the family somehow. dc Oh, and just to add something to the topic, bread and milk? Blah!
  22. Almost all of 'Hollywood' and tv is nothing but inane trash, or downright immoral, anti Christian, anti American, pro perverse garbage. Or left wing, socialist propaganda, etc. Or maybe no story line but endless chase scenes along with computer graphics of explosions and other nonsense sensationalism. I had I don't know how many cable channels and I only ever watched two channels, Sportsman and Outdoor. Which is gun shows and hunting. And just watching hunting can get boring before long. Going hunting, that's a different story, but it too can be boring sometimes. So a year ago I got rid of the cable, like I have done for a number of times for years previously. It was not entertainment at all for me. Except for Gold Fever, which is real gold prospecting, not the fake junk they have on NatGeo. Films, bah, garbage about 99% of it. And I could care less how many "awards" the garbage has "won", it's still garbage. dc
  23. Police are 'para military' and usually they have a no facial hair policy. However San Francisco PD used to require a mustache. I don't know if they still do that. But you know what's going on up there anyway. dc
  24. HEY HEY HEY, that was not I what said that! That was marklin. Or should we say Mista Marklin, as in Mista Blackwell. What you've got there Eowyn is false attribution, if you don't mind. dc
