So why haven't all the Jews converted to Christianity?  Oh, right! Because they don't buy it as anything more than a coincidence, and in some cases in intentional deceitful attempt by the devil to veer people away from God's truth.  Hmm sounds a lot like how you view the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith.
We could go back and forth on this stuff all day.  It is a fruitless endeavor.  It is safe to assume that almost every faithful member of the Church has at some point opened their mind to the consideration that the Restored Gospel could be false, and then come out on the other end with a stronger faith and testimony that it is true.  On the other hand, how many traditional Christians have opened their minds to the possibility that there is more information and truth to be had beyond only the teachings and traditional interpretations of the Bible.  As a percentage I feel confident in suggesting that it is much, much smaller.

Wait until you have grandkids and they come over for Christmas.  My experience depends on how old they are.  When they are around one years old they will first be kind of confused about the present and you have to help them open it up.  Once they figure it out, they start getting more excited and by the third or fourth present they are eagerly opening anything and everything.
But, as Anatess states...sometimes they are far more interested in the packaging or something you didn't expect them to be interested or excited about instead of the actual item inside.

    Me too!
I lost a Tag Heuer... that was the last time I dared to wear a watch.  Same with any jewelry, actually.  I lost the diamond earings my husband got me.  The only thing I never lost was my engagement/wedding rings and that's because I don't take it off for any reason.

Yeah my daughter was born after the first of the year, but she's getting pretty big. Not big enough to be too interested in her new toys yet, but giving my child presents at Christmas is something I've dreamed about for years so she is going to get spoiled.

I love Christmas presents!  But I hate surprises.  When I was growing up, my parents did not put gifts under the tree until we go to Church at midnight between Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  So we come home from mass and the presents would magically be under the tree and we go on a mad dash looking for our names.  We'd play with whatever we got until we pass out of exhaustion on Christmas morning.
My husband doesn't do this.  He puts the wrapped presents under the tree as soon as he gets them.  So there could be a present sitting under the tree right after we put the tree up and I would have to wait weeks before I can open it.  Which drives me insane.  So, I carefully open the wrapper until I see what's in it, then I carefully close it up.  And I'd wait until Christmas to open it for real.  When my husband found out I do this (this was years into our marriage), he started doing gag gifts where he would wrap something silly and the real present is actually something else.  Which drives me crazy too.  But yeah, I love the surprise but I hate waiting for the surprise so I have this love-hate relationship with Christmas presents.  Hah hah.

So, this year, I'm getting my husband either a drone cam or a dash cam or a seurity cam for the house.  Not sure yet which he would like better.  I got my kids this new-fangled dual-language Book of Mormon where the page is split in vertical half.  One kid is going to get English on the left side, Bisaya on the right side.  His girlfriend is a quarter Filipino and wants to learn Bisaya so they both can read the BOM in Bisaya which would be awesome.  While the other kid is getting English and Portuguese.  He became interested in this young woman in our ward who is Portuguese, barely speaks English so he learned to speak Portuguese, hung out with their family and got to the point where they can communicate in Portuguese with him, but then the young woman told him she's not interested in being his girlfriend - stupid woman, broke my son's heart.  But, he learned Portuguese so that was good.  The BOM would help him keep that language skill and not forget it.  Or so I hope.  He might just chuck Portuguese out of his life with his hopes for that girl, who knows.

    Thank-you.
So aside from something that borders on indignation i experience about the physical safety of some of his intermediary acts, and a desire that he'd filtered out some of the language unnecessary to the points he was making, i'd say the two takeaways for me are that beliefs are some of the most powerful sorts of thoughts - and seem to interact with what we call reality in a very real way.  And that interaction was portrayed in a way that isolated it from the religious dogmatism i have such a hard time with.
And then that our brains are much more like giant vats that hold all we've ever read, seen - and that so much of that just roils beneath the surface.
And then perhaps just how those two things play off one another.
    Admittedly, a rather odd summary.
Also, he goes out of his way to mock prosperity gospel tele-evangelism - so if that's an issue for anyone, you really shouldn't watch this.  i hope nobody interprets this as some promotion as atheism.  That, at least, was not at all what i was feeling as it finished.

Personally I have a hard time in the LDS community using the word hymnal.  My mom was totally into music since she was little and has had numerous ward and stake music callings.  She always told me that LDS use hymnbook while the protestant community uses the word hymnal.  When I google hymnal, it shows up relating to LDS from non LDS sources.  LDS sources say hymnbook.  Others don't have to agree with.  It's just my thing.

Seeing it in person, it's really an incredibly vibrant crimson sky.  Looks a lot lighter in the photo, but still nice. Photo taken 12/4/18. 5:29 PM (MST).

Unfortunately for them (or fortunate for me), I already have my burial paid for along with the casket and everything else, at least overall.  As long as my body gets to the morgue.  I already know where I'll be buried along with my wife...or at least have the plans for it.
Though, it could be interesting if they tossed the entire body into the middle of an ice field above the Artic Circle, and my body was preserved (with some artifacts...maybe a pocket knife would make for a fascinating artifact along with a M9 in a holster) for a couple thousand years...I could be come the focus of an archeological study in the future!!!  Maybe even have papers written about me!!!

It's been a long time, but if I recall that movie, wasn't the last option also a plan.  If I recall Luke had his robot conceal his laser sword and it tossed it too him after a pre-arranged signal or something to that effect.

With Migraines I think a new item some are looking at is also Altitude, or how much above Sea Level one lives at.  I think some preliminary studies suggest that the higher the altitude one lives at the higher a chance of Migraines.  Thus, in areas like Utah and Idaho (and even above the continental divide) Migraines seem to arise more often than at other areas.
Western British Columbia may be nice in that regards (but probably terrible as far as Barometric changes go).

I posted this in the other Star Wars (I suppose it is Star Trek instead) thread, but it would do just as well here.
One of my kids absolutely ADORES Star Wars.
    He liked The Last Jedi.
Of course, he also liked My Little Pony and later on Pokémon stuff...so his taste may be wanting somewhat...
As per him, there were some things that diminished his liking of it.  He thinks Luke acts differently.
When he dragged me to go see it, it was a decent movie.  There was no really bad items that would be completely offensive, which is something that is all too prevalent in movies today.  That at least makes it worthwhile.  A tad too violent at spots though.  There was no need to show them cutting someone in half and other rather graphic things.  Looking back at it, there are some things that just really didn't make sense.
For example, they are in space, which has more than 2 dimensions.  Why didn't the enemy guys just go to lightspeed and jump around the Rebels and do a pincer movement?  It also appeared like they were going to have some large and major battle, but all that happened were a few ground vehicles travelled towards the bad guys and then peeled off without ever firing a shot, and a bunch of spaceships went through some caves.  There wasn't really any battle after the build up!
Finally, Luke said he was going to teach Rey three lessons, but I only ever counted two.  Where was the third lesson.  And why did he vanish like he did at the end?
I also though the humor is going to be incredibly DATED.  Will you hold?  Holding?  Really?  That's going to get old really quick...actually it was dated by the time TLJ came out to some degree.
And throwing away the lightsaber at the beginning, people laughed, I thought some of that stuff was actually quite cringeworthy.
HOWEVER, as it was relatively clean, I'm not going to say it was a BAD movie.  It's a LOT better than many other movies out there today that are rated PG or higher.
I have seen the original Star Wars (and it was also violent, but otherwise pretty clean which is a good thing).  I must admit I liked the Original Star Wars better than this Last Jedi one.
My kid I mentioned at the start of this post...he LOVED it.  The Return of the Jedi had some inappropriate stuff, but he always wanted to watch the Star Wars Trilogy and such when he was growing up.  His grandparents would rent the entire trilogy for him to watch when we visited them on New Years.  At least it kept him and the others in the TV room while the adults talked and such.

That's because the people who "teach" history take great pains to ensure it is (unnecessarily) the most boring, mind-numbing subject in school.  Maybe if people with a passion for the topic figured out how to teach it in an interesting and meaningful fashion, more people would be interested.

When I said they had "more local temples", I didn't mean they had more temples than the Jerusalem people (and they happened to be local); I meant they had temples that were more local than the Jerusalem temple, so if they were facing toward a temple during prayer it would have been that one.
