  1. Go through the Gospel Principles manual - its the Sunday School manual for investigators and new members -- no reason you can't go through it on your own, its available online here: Gospel Principles manual
  2. Yes, we have lived in a toxic ward, we tried, we really did, but frankly after 1+ years there I was close to going inactive, we ended up selling our house, luckily we did so at a profit (but at that point loosing a little would have been ok) and moved to a different Stake in the area. It did really affect us though. Its easier being on the outside and saying what you need to do, but when you are actually in that situation its terrible - it really is toxic and if you don't watch out it can poison you and the effects can last past that time. Wish I had other suggestions - I don't
  3. Also remove the extra hard drive you installed and see if that fixes it.
  4. Anything I don't agree with is just 'tradition' :)
  5. Well from this point you really have only one choice, Format your hard drive -- get to a command prompt and do a format c: then when done, reload Windows. If you can not get a command prompt to open in Windows you may have to get an Ubuntu disk and use that. (google it to find it, its a Linux operating system that many use to fix a Windows computer. Question: do you have a specific reason for wanting your drive partitioned? Most people don't and don't know how to use them if they have it done.
  6. Bruce R McConkie on past statements of leader (specifically about Blacks and the Priesthood, but the principle is the same for any statements): Bruce R. McConkie, "All Are Alike unto God," an address to a Book of Mormon Symposium for Seminary and Institute teachers, Brigham Young University, 18 Aug. 1978
  7. Color and sound? nothing, thinking of the anything, Church included does not bring up colors and sounds unless I am thinking of a color or a sound.
  8. I hate to ask, but why are you still with him? If my spouse said that they would get served with divorce papers very quickly. I do like to look at a pretty woman just for beauty's sake -- I'll look at a handsome man also -- not quite as much. God made a lot of variety and there's nothing wrong with that. My views of beauty are not always the: movie star, super model type. Eyes and smiles mean a whole lot more to me than body types. I try to avoid looking when with my wife as she is the one I choose to be my eternal companion and I don't want her to take it the wrong way. We kind of play a game when someone attractive walks by of the opposite sex of saying to each other "What were you looking at?" and then the answer would have nothing to do with the person.
  9. I can live with your explanation. I mean if Gods home star is Kolob, then he is both ancient and alien -- not sure about the mind transfer thing, but I could live with it. I definitely believe your beliefs about Scripture
  10. When you see your home and visit teachers, ask them when they'd like to come over. Its a weak point with some people, I've been in wards where percentages of families visited were below 30% and in wards where they approached 90%. Don't be afraid to invite them over when you see them in Church, they'll probably be relieved and if you do that a couple times they'll get the idea.
  11. Its a myth that cats always land on their feet.
  12. This says it completely: It will be worked out by God and all parties involved to their complete satisfaction -- its time for you to drop it.
  13. Christmas Music -- Bah Humbug!! I was in restaurant management/ownership for over 25 years and had to listen to Christmas music 10-14 hours a day 6 days a week from Thanksgiving until New Years and frankly after that I now HATE it!!
  14. Having owned businesses, I agree with you, there were times in the early days that I had to pick up extra income which went right into paying the business debts. I would tithe off the profits and declare myself a full tithe payer -- the Bishop is not supposed to probe.
  15. I hate that song, not just dislike, I actually hate it -- why not 'America the Beautiful' as the National Anthem, why does it have to be a war song? Why glorify war if you want to have a song about the country?
  16. Seems like our elected officials have no clue about budgeting either.
  17. Nope, I'll eat it if I have to but I sure wouldn't choose it for a meal if I had a choice -- and lucky me, at 56 years old, I can choose.
  18. We're going out to a Buffet -- no muss, no fuss and personally I don't really care for turkey so I'll have something else.
  19. One more thing - get back to basics; daily prayer, daily scripture study, weekly FHE, attend all meetings. If you don't know what to do for FHE - watch conference talks (online or DVD's) If you don't use it you lose it -- this is true of a testimony too.
  20. I investigated the Church for over a year, praying pretty much daily to know if it was true. It was not until I changed my prayer from "is it true?" to "I'll do what you want me to do, just let me know" that I finally got my answer. Perhaps that's what your husband needs to do.
  21. Write the check today but hand it to the Bishop next Sunday.
  22. Which brings us full circle to my point. Put it back in the sin category and out of the 'you pervert I want a divorce' category.
  23. No state has petitioned to secede. All you have are a bunch of internet petitions that are absolutely worthless.
  24. Internet blockers -- really? I can see that for the kids in the house, but for the husband (or wife)? If you get to that point I think there's more of a problem. My thought for adults is either they can control themselves or they can not. besides most people have other computers, smart phones, etc they can get to, not to mention old fashioned books and magazines.
  25. If people would not go to Target on Thanksgiving day, they would not do it in the future. I think that's unlikely to happen however. Decades ago I managed a Taco Bell and they tried being open on Thanksgiving, we made less than $50 in sales and paid out like $250 for labor. They never tried that again while I was there.
