FBI tracking hate crimes against Mormons and others

Here is another victim of the "Zero Tolerance" policies in public schools. 16-Year-Old Hunter Forgets Knife in Pocket at School Football Game and Quickly Turns It in — but What Happened Next Has His Parents Furious | Video | TheBlaze.com -
I am not seeing the content of the talks given by the Youngs. I am getting a feeling the message is not being told for what was really said. I also believe the Salt Lake Tribune gets it wrong a lot. Edit: After listening to Steve Young's talk I can say the summary of his talk is trust in LORD even though you have to do things blind sometimes. Have faith in Jesus Christ as He is our Savior. I did not listen to his wife's talk yet.

"Zero Tolerance" policies are very problematic in public schools. Read the below Wahington Times article: Fifth-graders in California who adorned their mortarboards with tiny toy plastic soldiers last week to support troops in Iraq were forced to cut off their miniature weapons. A Utah boy was suspended for giving his cousin a cold pill prescribed to both students. In Rhode Island, a Kindergartner was suspended for bringing a plastic knife to school so he could cut cookies. Hydrogen cars will never happen unless they discover a way to make cheap hydrogen. Presently hydrogen is about twice the cost of gasoline per gallon. Natural gas cars also are not good as I have researched. Someone who uses one for work told me the catalytic converters melt and the tanks that hold the natural gas are very expensive. The tanks have to be inspected every 36,0000 miles or three years. If they fail inspection expect to pay over $4,000 for replacement tanks.

I know someone who lost about $7,500 gambling in sports betting. His family had to bail him out because they were afraid the collector would do something bad to him if he did not pay. You may think it is harmless but someone else may see your example, deem it okay then end up addicted and in serious financial trouble.

So where is Boulder, Colorado planning on getting this new energy they want? Is it from dams, solar, or wind generators? What is it?

I hope others have a better experience with the Chevrolet Volt cars than I have had in the past. I had some valid customer complaints about a Chevrolet car I bought from them in 2006 that had only 7,500 miles on the odometer. Chevrolet blew off my complaints and could not care less. I have swore off all General Motors cars since. I may perhaps buy a used General Motors car in the future if it is not from a dealer, but they are low on my list.

Private ownership of solar and wind electricity power are also coming into play here. They can start jacking up electricity rates as demand increases but when we can generate our own power they will have to find tax revenue from somewhere else. I am also tired of being at the mercy of foreign countries that can charge whatever they wish for oil.

My knowledge of the Gospel of Jesus Christ comes from this truth: Jesus answered them, “My doctrine is not Mine, but His that sent Me. If any man will do His will, he shall know of the doctrine whether it be from God, or whether I speak from Myself. -- John 7:16-17 The more I do in the Gospel the greater my knowledge grows in truth. I try to exercise my faith by following the commandments of God and the counsel of His prophets. -
BMW has introduced the i8 car. It is a hybrid sports car. It has an electric engine and a twin-turbocharged 1.5-liter 3-cylinder engine at the heart of it all. Alone the internal combustion engine is 231 horsepower. The i8 can go from 0 to 62 miles per hour in only 4.4 seconds. It has a top speed of 155 miles per hour. BMW claims the car can get up to 94 miles per gallon. On electric power alone, the coupe can travel at speeds up to 75 miles per hour. All this technology is paired to a six-speed automated gearbox, and an advanced all-wheel drive system which utilizes the lithium-ion battery. The car can seat one driver and four passengers. No official pricing has been given, but rumor has it the i8 will fetch somewhere in the market of $136,000 when it hits BMW dealers this spring. I have been reading on the subject of Astral Projection or Remote Viewing. Here is what I discovered and I believe their are elements of truth in it. These are not my words but another's advice: Astral projection This subject has come up on a few threads so I felt it needed to be address and clarified. The practice of Astral projection is held in the deep occult. Astral projection or travel denotes the astral body or double leaving the physical body to travel in the astral plane. The common belief is that the subtle body is attached to the physical body by means of a psychic silver cord. When you leave your body to Astral project you are leaving your body in a very similar form as when you are channeling spirits. The descriptions of the experiences are quite often very close to the same. I have a dear friend that prior to his conversion as a Latter-Day Saint said he was Astral projecting regularly. I was friends with him at the time I was not Latter-Day Saint either. He could leave his body walk around his room, leave his house and visit places and witness things that later he could verify. On one occasion he was doing this he came back to his body and found it nearly impossible to re-enter. He had to fight of another entity that was attempting to take over his body. He had to battle for control of his own body for quite a while hearing horrible growling sounds. He said it was one of the scariest things that every had happened to him. He at the time had no belief in demons and only thought he was using powers that he had in him self as many books he had read told him. He felt it was just a natural extention of his spiritual abilities. After this experience he never Astral projected again and he also started to check into Christianity. He later joined the Latter-Day Saint church when I testified to him the truth of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. Astral projection is something that we are not to participate in. This is not something we gain any Divine knowledge from. It is done through mediation and leaves us open for demonic possession. This is not an approved practice for a Latter-Day Saint. It is part of the occult and not of our faith. I shared my friend’s story with a General Authority and they agreed that this was not a practice we were to dabble in. There are no spiritual references that support this as a accepted activity. If the Lord chooses to show us things or take our spirit somewhere it is by His will not ours. This activity has nothing to do with the Lord's will or His teachings but it is based just on our will. Its roots are completely away from the Gospel. Another person advised: I heard Art Bell talking about this practice but he called it "remote viewing". He said he got very good at it and then it turned bad. He said his spirit would without warning leave his body and he could not control it.

I am looking at eventually buying a used completely battery electric car. I am paying about $1,500 in gasoline per year because my travel to work is about 60 miles round trip. I am tired of paying ever increasing gasoline prices which are likely going to continue to go higher. (I hope I am wrong but I think in about four years gasoline will be around $5 per gallon.) I will be looking hard at whatever I buy and I won't be paying much more than $10,000 for the car. I have put hours of research already into this subject. Never buy a new car unless you have a net worth of more than 1 million and can pay cash. You can get a really good car for $16,000 or less. I recommend you visit CarComplaints.com | Car Problems, Car Complaints, & Repair/Recall Information and check out whatever car model you are looking at.

In my own opinion I think people who have skills that are hard to get should get paid more money because they had to work hard to get those skills and likely had to pay for schooling. I do think many employees are under paid and many Corporate Executives are paid too much though. I don't think we need any more laws on this matter as their is enough red tape for all of us to deal with. Where is the balance or what is the solution? Until men want to not oppress the hireling in his wages and workers want to put in an honest effort for the wages they earn the situation will not get better.

Also, what about the truth and accountability of the Internal Revenue Service harassments aimed at political opponents of the Obama Administration? The Executive branch is full of a corrupt stench that needs to be cleaned out very badly. I question anything Obama says as he is known to not tell the truth.

Also in the spirit prison are those who rejected the gospel after it was preached to them either on earth or in the spirit prison. These spirits suffer in a condition known as hell. They have removed themselves from the mercy of Jesus Christ, who said, “Behold, I, God, have suffered these things for all, that they might not suffer if they would repent; but if they would not repent they must suffer even as I; which suffering caused myself, even God, the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain, and to bleed at every pore, and to suffer both body and spirit” (Doc. & Cov. 19:16-18). After suffering for their sins, they will be allowed, through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, to inherit the lowest degree of glory, which is the telestial kingdom. (Gospel Principles, Chapter 41: The Postmortal Spirit World)

I oppose action in Syria because the current Syrian government is evil. The rebels fighting against the Syrian government are evil as well. If we get involved nothing good will come of it. Whoever wins will continue to oppress the Syrian people.

Computers taking over driving in some cars
Still_Small_Voice replied to Still_Small_Voice's topic in General Discussion
Some of these cars implementing the automatic braking systems have a switch that can turn the system off. But some models of cars do not have a kill switch. There is an automatic braking system that can be switched off on some Volvo car models. The Nissan Leaf has no switch to turn off the automatic braking. Do your homework before buying. Advanced Emergency Braking Systems in commercial vehicles will be implemented on 1 November 2013 for new vehicle types and on 1 November 2015 for all new vehicles in the European Union. -

I do not get much out of most Sacrament meeting talks. I personally wish they would shorten Sacrament meeting to 30 minutes with only one talk. I get a lot out of Sunday school and our Priesthood meetings because people interact there. But I also tell myself that I would just be wasting time on things less valuable if I did not go. That which is eternal is very valuable compared to the dross of the world.

The "Wheego" electric car
Still_Small_Voice replied to Still_Small_Voice's topic in General Discussion
I just recently took a test drive in an all electric car the "Mitsubishi i MiEV." I was impressed. The acceleration beat my four cylinder gasoline car. I took up to 65 miles per hour with no issues on the highway. I am presently spending about $1,550 on gasoline to get to work and back every year. The range is only about 58 miles with the car though. That would not be an issue for me as I could find charging stations close to my work. My issue is the $25,000 price tag on the car. The battery has about a eight year 100,000 mile warranty on it. But battery replacement is presently $10,500. That is ridiculous. I will wait until I can get a used electric car for $13,000 or less with a battery that doesn't cost more than $4,000 to replace. If I could find a decent leasing option that could also be an opening for me to own an all electric car. The dealership wanted $4,000 up front and $300 a month for a lease. That is just too much money. The most I could spend is about $250 per month on a lease that would not require a load of money up front. -
King Benjamin said: " . . . it is not requisite that a man should run faster than he has strength. And again, it is expedient that he should be diligent, that thereby he might win the prize; therefore, all things must be done in order." (Mosiah 4:27) If you feel you cannot handle everything on your plate cut something out. Study out what you should do and pray about your plan.

Husband has no "real" job for 10 years!!
Still_Small_Voice replied to Idealist's topic in Marriage and Relationship Advice
The Apostle Paul wrote: "But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel." (1 Timothy 5:8) Pray for your husband that he will be inspired to fulfill his role as a man. I have had many difficulties as others providing for my family as have others. You do the best you can and pray for help. The LORD has been very good to me in helping me provide for our family. My wife still has to work part time to help make ends meet. Make sure you have a good cash flow plan (or budget). I would be very hesitant in having children with a spouse who did not want to do their part. I would not have children until I knew he was in the process of repenting. It sounds to me as if he is asleep and needs to wake up. Is he a member of the church? -
