No. He's lying.

Jay Inslee is a joke. Outside of the state of Washington, he's mostly unknown, and outside of King County, Washington, he is not well-respected by most of the public who do know him. King County put him in office. It certainly was not the east side of the state that put him in Olympia.

Or, he's just an idiot.

I don't fall into the "X doesn't agree with me, so they must be stupid or evil.".

That's a logical fallacy when applied as a blanket rule. But I see nothing illogical about examining an individual's words and actions and concluding that that individual is an idiot.

Nor do I, at least I don't think I do. But I don't think that case applies here. He is simply choosing of his own volition to be blind to the corrupt situation going on around him...and with the situation being as serious as it is with so many severe ramifications being possible, he is definitely a complete idiot.

DICTIONARY

id·i·ot
/ˈidēət/

noun

INFORMAL

a stupid person.

ARCHAIC

a person of low intelligence.

As this person clearly has not been given the intel of the situation, by his own admission, he is a person of low intelligence.

For what it’s worth, I agree with MG that he is attempting to be deceptive by downplaying the situation. But what else can he do and still hope to get re-elected? How can anyone objectively assess this situation and vote for him (or especially the mayor!) ever again?

Two words:

Plausible Deniability.

You'll be surprised.

This has nothing to do with right versus left. There are plenty of stupid conservative politicians. This guy in particular is simply an idiot. Maybe I missed something in your remarks, but I don't understand what point you are trying to make here.

Well, “objectively assess” is key phrasing here!

Of the actual results, unfortunately,  I’m pretty sure we both already know.... 😕

Yes.  You'll be surprised.  You think the people who promoted Hilary and are now promoting Biden are not objectively assessing their decades of corruption and pandering?

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying here and what I'm supposed to already know.

It was tongue in cheek-I was making the point that this guy has been vastly successful in politics, and I'm sure all the people he has beaten call him a dummy head too.

I'm always uncomfortable when people like you and I call any one else an "idiot" from the privacy of our own homes on our computers and cell phones. Well, if we're so much smarter than these fools, why are we complaining on internet forums and they are like, you know, doing stuff. Like being successful in their careers!

No. I don’t think they are objectively assessing at all. I think they are assessing with a preconceived, desired outcome, just like most people do.

That I agree with you. I think, perhaps, you misunderstand what I am saying.

I agree with your assessment that they will still be voted for by many people.

Gotcha. I disagree, (and still think he's an idiot) but now I understand what you're saying.

That's all that matters my friend. I don't care if we agree or not.

They are very much so objectively assessing.  Saying otherwise would have to make the improbable conclusion that these people are idiots or easily led by the nose.  No... they are objectively assessing.  They just have completely different motivations than other people.

The Seattle City Council has two parties--Democrats and Democratic Socialists. Since at least the early 1980s there have been signs downtown calling for revolution--for the overthrow of the corrupt capitalist system. Seattle proper is roughly 25% atheist (compared with less than 3% nationally). Evergreen State College should already be bankrupt (a school built for 4000+ students with a current enrollment around 2400), yet it just keeps chugging along. So...no, this doesn't surprise me. Gov. Inslee may not be too popular outside of King-Pierce-Snohomish counties, but those 3 make up roughly 75% of the state. Perhaps CHAZ is what allows Amazon, Microsoft and Boeing to come across as benign and mildly conservative. They support big liberal government that regulates their competitors out of business, but get to look reasonable thanks to the long-in-development CHAZ/CHOP.

ob·jec·tive·ly
/əbˈjektivlē,äbˈjektivlē/

adverb
adverb: objectively
  1. in a way that is not influenced by personal feelings or opinions

Are you trying to tell me that the majority of people aren’t politically influenced by their personal feelings and opinions?

In many ways, politics has become a team sport, cheering for the home team while hissing at the opposition.

Perfectly said. It's always been like this to some degree, sadly.
