  1. Dear Folks, I was trying to get into the ward directory to send a chirpy thank you to a helpful sister (admit you have done this! It’s not just Canadians!). I could not get into the ward directory. Is anyone else having this proble? But the new changes to the site are amazing! So well laid out! The graphics! And the messages that pop up really are poignant! Maybe I could send a chirpy ‘thank you’ to the site developers? What talent! @NeuroTypical and @zil probably work there!

  3. Pew Research Center offers a smorgasbord of interesting statistics and factoids about pretty much everything under the sun, including religion. Every so often, they publish a Religion Landscape Study full of general information about religious groups across the country. Their most recent landscape study was published in 2014. You can check it out right here. After perusing its data, I've selected five data sets having to do with members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint that you might find informative. Check 'em out: 1. More Latter-day Saints believe in Heaven than any other religious group These results are super interesting. 95-percent of Latter-day Saints who participated in this survey say they believe in Heaven. I mean, I'm not sure why that number isn't one hundred percent, but whatever. As it turns out, we're leading the way in this category, with a stronger belief in Heaven than any other faith/denomination. 2. Latter-day Saints are in the scriptures more often than almost any other religion Second only to our Jehovah's Witness... View the full article

  4. Playing devil’s advocate (or @Vort‘s advocate, as the case may be): As cultural conservatives we’ve used the “If they’re not against us they must be for us” line before—with Disney—and we’re seeing how that worked out. As paranoid as it may sound: we probably shouldn’t trust anyone in the filmmaking business any closer than a distance from which we can reliably spit in their eyes.

  5. As long as you go looking for them, and find the right people, ok. But you should automatically assume that when they contact you and want you to do something, they are nigerian scammers out to steal your identity and dollars. Because no matter how much they look and act like Adobe tech support, they are probably nigerian scammers out to steal your identity and dollars.

  6. I have been overall impressed with the changes as they come. Certainly, they occasionally come with frustrating bugs. And I'm not happy at all with the current scriptures setup. But overall lots of good things indeed! I don't work there, but I have emailed bugs and interacted with IT on many occasions. I'm also impressed. Best part about it is my Catholic buddy - a website developer himself - heaping praises on our website while complaining about the Vatican's website. "They've had the same awful wallpaper since the '90's!"

  7. I have no wish to dissuade anyone from the No-R-rating standard, nor to convince any to watch The Passion of the Christ. We've done those strings--and yes, I found the movie to be powerful. On the other hand, do we really want to lump Hollyweird's sincere attempts at promoting faith-based movies with the industry's seeming push upon our youngest to embrace the inherent goodness of same-sex love? You'll lose a lot of allies if you go down this road.

  9. If it's a state-champion-level boys HS soccer team, the answer will most certainly be "can't".

    News Flash!!!

With only rare exceptions, so-called human rights abuses in foreign countries, especially non-allies, are none of our business. It is an enforcement of what has been called "cultural imperialism".

Seriously??? Simply not true. Why would you say something like that? This is exhibit A of what "Trump derangement syndrome'" looks like. That is a terrible thing to say, and I'm sorry you feel that way.
