I don't know if you have noticed but there is a new look to the Third Hour website. I've already had a couple of people ask me what happened to all the articles there. They are under the tab "Topics." It seems the new idea is to pretty much just have reels, TikToks and podcasts.3 points

Comparing Trump's one night stand to Biden's behavior with his daughter. Yeah, you got issues of your own if you think those two have much comparison. Trump and Stormy vs. Clinton and Monica? Closer, but Clinton's behavior is far worse. If you can't figure out why (or admit it) you got issues of your own. None of the above behaviors are acceptable.3 points

dealing with financial difficulties in marriage
Backroads and one other reacted to prisonchaplain for a topic
Part of the difficulty is that your finances are separate. If you are married, you are one. Perhaps, by combining your finances and making them a single-family budget, you can have more influence. There are many debt counseling programs available. Choose one that is "conservative." Debt is bondage. Savings is freedom. Your wife's not in debt. Your family is. It may be that by combining your finances she'll come to believe that you trust her. Maybe she'll trust you too. Then, you can work on becoming debt free together.2 points -
@NeuroTypical nailed it in his above post. I have a number of hardcore dem friends. Not. A. Single. One. will ever admit Clinton did anything wrong, or acknowledge that Biden is creepy (at best.) Not. One. The left is really really good at circling the wagons for "their guy/gal" no matter what. I have seen many on the right vote third party when they are unhappy with "their guy/gal" acting in a manner they see as egregious. I personally do not know of any on the left who have done the same.2 points

Blessings and curses are foundational themes in scripture, where obedience to the commandments of God typically brings blessings, and disobedience brings consequences or curses. This framework teaches accountability and emphasizes the importance of choosing righteousness. In Deuteronomy 11:26-28, it lays out this principle clearly: “Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse; A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you this day: And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.” This shows that blessings and curses are often used by the Lord to guide and encourage His people to follow His path. Blessings are not just rewards; they're encouragement to stay faithful and reminders of His promises and love. On the other hand, the hardships that come from turning away from God's commandments serve as a reminder and a chance to correct course, urging us back to a path that leads to spiritual growth and happiness.1 point

Trump just won the election

It would be nice if it were that easy, but it rarely is. Proving someone left their DNA somewhere is not the same thing as proving a crime was committed. When someone says "he did something bad", and he says "no I didn't", that's not enough to convict. You need proof force was used, consent was not given. Without it, you need to 'prove motive', which is quite a high bar. Without witnesses, without social media bragging, without a pattern of provable behavior like a trail of victims, you don't get convictions. Years ago when I was paying attention, one of the things the rape crisis centers tried to do for their victims, was help them understand their legal landscape and a path forward. They tried hard to help victims understand that their healing journey should not be dependent on their abuser facing justice. At the time, the statistics painted a bleak picture: In the '90's, most rapes went unreported. Most reported rapes went without an arrest being made. Most arrests never made it to trial. And most trials did not result in a plea or a guilty verdict. Pregnancies didn't alter these statistics the slightest little bit. I have little reason to think the landscape has changed in 2 decades. Here's a poser to folks who think rape is a good exception to laws against abortions: A good rape conviction takes a year or more. Babies take 9 months. Absent a confession, how would any pregnant woman ever qualify for a rape exemption?1 point -

Questions re Moroni 9:26 and Moses 1:39
zil2 reacted to Jersey Boy for a topic
The expression “all things shall become subject unto him” is not necessarily referring to exaltation. In the end, at the time of the final judgement, all the sons of men, with the exception sons of perdition, will eventually come unto Christ in faith and accept him as their Lord and Savior, willingly becoming subject to his rulership. This is evidenced by the following verses from Doctrine and Covenants 76 which are speaking of the inheritors of the post-resurrection telestial kingdom of glory… 106 These are they who are cast down to hell and suffer the wrath of Almighty God, until the fulness of times, when Christ shall have subdued all enemies under his feet, and shall have perfected his work; The above verse is pointing to the fact that those wicked individuals, who are thrust into the spirit prison at the time of death, will, sooner or later, eventually seek deliverance from their imprisonment and suffering, in the full realization that the only way to bring their agonies to an end is to come unto Christ in faith and accept deliverance and a degree of salvation at his hand through faith in his atoning sacrifice, as these additional verses from Doctrine and Covenants 76 clearly bear record… 109 But behold, and lo, we saw the glory and the inhabitants of the telestial world, that they were as innumerable as the stars in the firmament of heaven, or as the sand upon the seashore; 110 And heard the voice of the Lord saying: These all shall bow the knee, and every tongue shall confess to him who sits upon the throne forever and ever; 111 For they shall be judged according to their works, and every man shall receive according to his own works, his own dominion, in the mansions which are prepared; 112 And they shall be servants of the Most High; but where God and Christ dwell they cannot come, worlds without end. (Doctrine and Covenants 76) From the above verses we understand that the inheritors of the telestial kingdom of heavenly glory will 1) Confess to God the Father on the day of judgement that Jesus is Lord and Savior. 2) Through their acceptance of Christ, they will be made worthy and fit to enter a mansion of heavenly glory that Christ has prepared for them. 3) Through their travails in the spirit prison, and their eventual deliverance through repentance, they will become spiritually transformed enough to become servants of God in eternity, though they will not dwell in his immediate presence. To encapsulate: becoming subject unto Christ is not necessarily synonymous with receiving eternal life.1 point -

As a Reserve veteran and son of a retired Air Force Master Seargant, I can confirm that it's extremely unlikely that Walz knew about his unit's mobilization when he initiated his retirement process. I knew about my dad's retirement (and that of other aging military folks in our stake and NCOs I served with) months before it was official. As with all government jobs, military retirement involves a fair amount of paperwork and administrative procedures. And I agree with the belief that this won't be as harmful to Walz as it was to Kerry. Kerry ran during the second year of the Iraq War and three years after 9/11. Nationalism and pro-military sentiments were strong 20 years ago. For better or worse, that is no longer the case, especially among young voters.1 point -
It’s a crazy jump. I mean, lets face the truth. College football is semi-pro. Kids are getting paid good money now. Most of the football players are taking inconsequential course loads and focusing all on football. Then your HS fast guy ran a 4.6 thats slow in D1. And the hits, my gosh! Guys that weight 235 are running 4.5 40s. Thats a crap ton of momentum. And they know how to punish. Many are on steroids… Its no joke.1 point

Doctrine and Covenants 76: 73 and 138: 29 - 30
askandanswer reacted to Jersey Boy for a topic
With regard to your question, what follows are 2 excerpts from the Standard Works that may help you to reconcile the two seemingly contradictory verses that you found in the Doctrine and Covenants. 38 What I the Lord have spoken, I have spoken, and I excuse not myself; and though the heavens and the earth pass away, my word shall not pass away, but shall all be fulfilled, whether by mine own voice or by the voice of my servants, IT IS THE SAME. (Doctrine and Covenants 1) In the above verse the Lord testifies that his appointed messengers, whom he clothes with great power and glory, are enabled able to preach the gospel in a manner so powerful that it’s tantamount to hearing the gospel preached by the Lord himself. One of the most powerful examples of this kind of divinely empowered preaching is found in the Book or Revelation, wherein an angel speaks to the Apostle John in the first person, as if he is the Lord Jesus Christ himself. This mighty angel appears to be so much like the risen Lord that the Apostle John, someone who knew the Savior most intimately, was confused and about to bow before the angel and worship him, but the angel forbade to do so, making it clear that he is but an angel. In the following 3 verses from Revelation 22, this angel first speaks to John in the first person, as if he’s the Savior. 7 Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keeper the sayings of the prophecy of this book. 8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things. 9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God. This amazing principle of divine empowerment is referred to in the restored gospel as “divine investiture of authority.” It’s by means of this principle of divine investiture that the Lord Jesus Christ occasionally speaks in the scriptures in the first person, as if he is God the Father. With this mighty principle of divine investiture of authority in mind, it’s not hard to imagine that the spirits in prison had a very powerful encounter with the redemptive power of Jesus Christ, even though he wasn’t personally there with them.1 point -

Imagine the jump from high school football to even D3, much less the Pac-10, SEC, etc. The playbook is ten times larger, the players go from 14-18 to…22 years old. You play in front of 9,000 people who will absolutely jeer and heckle you. There are many more differences of course. Yes, the differences between college and the NFL are bigger than the jump from high school-college, but at least you are a grown man getting paid big bucks.1 point

Trump just won the election
NeuroTypical reacted to Traveler for a topic
I am very conflicted. The democrats seem to be running on the notion that they are not Trump and yet the only solid statement of what they will do is a copy of what Trump said he would do. But then the republicans in general run on the notion that they are not democrats. In the meantime, our social programs are so nuts and out of control that we are wasting over 90% of our social program funding and poverty is worse than it was 50 years ago when the democrats said they would help the poor escape poverty with the foundation of our current poverty and social programs. The republicans say that they will fix it, but it does not get any better under their efforts. This is how I see it. The democrats say the most stupid and insane things and are h#ll bent on doing the most stupid and insane things. The republican say rational and intelligent things but are h#ll bent on doing the most stupid and insane things. Trump, who is not a politician came along and said a lot of very rational and intelligent things but not in the politically correct way. He also did a lot of rational and intelligent things – but not in the politically correct way. No one should ever enter our country illegally. No non-citizen should be allowed to demonstrate against any official or official policy while in this country. They have every right to free speech in their country. We should partner with our allies, not take over and pay their way. Our leaders should be transparent about what they stand for and are attempting to accomplish. They should also be honest about their past. We have sufficient science and medical knowledge that 99% of unwanted pregnancies should never happen (women can do what they want with their bodies) – we should not be arguing over rape or abuse and for every abortion needed because of rape or abuse – someone should be convicted of a felony and sent to prison. We can do DNA testing. No one in the military should be deliberately sent into harms way without a declaration by congress. We should not send aid into a conflict in which we are not willing to fight and if necessary, use nuclear weapons. We should not aid any country that refuses diplomatic relationships or openly or covertly opposes us. Lobbyists and special interests should not write a word of any bill presented in congress. No legislator should present a bill or be allowed to vote on a bill they have not read. I could list more but this should suffice for now. The Traveler1 point -
What we call righteousness in modern English in ancient time meant “those willing” to covenant and those that honor and keep their covenants with G-d. The term wicked was the opposite those that refuse to covenant or for whatever reason do not keep their covenants with G-d. In the Book of Mormon, the term “stiff nick” is often used as a description. I have pondered the meaning of this phrase and have concluded that it refers to those that will not bow their heads and say yes to accepting and keeping covenants with G-d. The Traveler1 point

I don't virtue signal very often, but I'm glad I publicly dumped Trump in 2016 and partnered with a leftie who hated Hilary, and we both got loud on facebook. I remember I jumped ship like 2 weeks before the p-hat news broke. But yeah, right about 20 years ago is when I gave up all hope that I'd ever have a national election that included one noble and moral candidate, and one degenerate free-lovin' commie-type. It's been finding the one I despise more, and voting against that one. For what it's worth, a couple months ago, we Colorado righties got so mad at the establishment party head R-Dave Williams, that we rushed to the primaries and made sure he wouldn't be on our ticket. Went with the former talk radio host R-Jeff Crank. Sick of 20 years of failed Republican leadership agreeing on nothing other than how to lose the next election.1 point -
Trump just won the election
JohnsonJones reacted to Phoenix_person for a topic
There's a reason why I don't go out of my way to defend him. There are very few truly good politicians, and none of them are going to be at the top of the ticket in November. But Gator's right that 20 years ago, Christian conservatives would have recoiled at the thought of voting for someone with the moral failings of Donald Trump. The Republican party lost a lot of their perceived moral high ground when they put him on office 8 years ago, and putting him back on the ticket doesn't help things much. That doesn't excuse or diminish any moral failings of Dem politicians, but Dems haven't exactly been known to run on Christian moral values. Republicans historically have, and they're going to have a very hard time convincing moderate voters that they're still that party after going all in on Trump twice. I maintain that disaster likely awaits the post-Trump GOP, either within the next 6 months or 48.1 point -

Since we're talking about good/evil, and thinking of Trump's consensual-but-sinful whoring about in that context, I wanted to just remind everyone about the dirt on Biden when it comes to pants-related issues. One would suppose if you're going to learn/think/opine about one, you should also do the other. Remember Ashley Biden's leaked diary pages (here's my earlier post containing them). Trump opiners - I want to hear what you think about Biden showering with his young daughter. Remember Tara Reade, who accused Joe Biden of sexually assaulting her in 1993. People upset about Trump's consensual activities, I want to hear what you think about such things when they're forced. I especially want to hear what you think about the left's wagon-circling around Biden and attacking Reade. Tell me what you think about a MeToo lawyer and Biden fan throwing her under the bus: Those of you who have ever thought harshly of men using an unequal power dynamic in their favor, I want to hear what you think about the seeming endless slew of public photographs of Biden doing it publicly. Tell me what you see in his target's eyes and body language. Here are a few to get you started, let me know if you want more: When the lefties and progressives began shouting #MeToo, and lecturing on consent, and yelling constantly about men in position of power, and the impact on unequal power dynamics, I was actually overall happy to have things discussed in the public forum. Even if 90% of the yelling was pointed at Trump. Then Biden ran, and it all seemed to just dry up and go away. Kind of like how feminists got real quiet about politics when Bill Clinton was running.1 point -

I can respect accusations leveled against Trump’s character. I’ve leveled some of the same accusations against him myself. And anyone ticked off and railing against abuse, especially the kinds being talked about here, is welcome company. But claiming that the LGBT-especially-the-T community somehow has zero predators and bad guys in it? Can we think about that one a minute? Yeah, there is no end of hatred and vile heated rhetoric directed against it. Can confirm: Plenty of victims in LGBT circles. I lost track of the “I was abused by a loved one as a kid” stories from those folks decades ago. But the claim that predators and monsters and molesters and child groomers somehow aren’t found in the LGBT-especially-the-T community? That’s simply a non serious position to take. Taking issue with the nasty ppl yelling horrible things at TQIA+ is one thing. Ignorance of/refusal to engage stories and lived experiences of ppl who have been hurt by members of/advocates for the TQIA+ community is something else. I’m glad to see your energy on the issue BP. I’ll give you the same suggestion I give everybody: If you’re interested in taking a genuine stand against sexual abuse and molestation and crimes against children, attempts to clean up your own backyard will be more fruitful than slinging mud across the fence. But first, you have to be willing to see it wherever you find it. Rainbow allies can make a bigger difference than I can. The last time I gave this advice to an online battlin-buddy, it was to someone who flat-out claimed “Maybe the Boy Scouts in general had an issue, but that crap simply doesn’t exist in the Arrow of Light!” I gave him half a dozen stories from all over the country - the results of 5 minutes of googling. I guess seeing it happen that often in his treasured beloved circles was too much for him, and he quit the forum. So I’ve learned to soften my tone on this topic. Just consider: if only a half of a percent of the angry mudslinging against the trans community is valid, how many legit stories does that indicate? It’s easy math. I’m glad you’re here, @Phoenix_person.1 point -
