  1. My brother and sister-in-law in California were amongst the first to get Covid. They are actually part of the major studies in California and were also part of where they were able to see how it distributed to California residents in San Diego. When I recently spoke with my sister-in-law she mentioned how her anti-body count was significantly still higher than those who are now getting the virus. I find that interesting. Her anti-body count is also higher than those with the vaccine. Now, to be fair and honest, despite their high anti-body count they both decided to get the vaccine because their anti-body count was getting lower, but I wonder if that also has to do with how much plasma -- anti-bodies -- from themselves they have donated. And because their count is so high they keep getting asked to come back and donate. They were part of the plasma donations in the beginning in California for people who were getting Covid.

    Secret Combinations

From the Introduction of the Book of Mormon: From President Ezra Taft Benson in a General Conference address: When the Book of Mormon was abridged, Mormon took those things he thought/was inspired, as most profitable to us. This includes the book of Ether. The heading for Ether 8: The chapter tells us the story of Akish and his rise to power using murder and Secret Combinations. Moroni proceeds to tell us about the horrors of Secret Combinations. In verses 23-26 he is speaking to us. The modern church members. Take particular note of verse 24. It dumbfounds me the lengths members of the LDS church will go to write off the dangers of modern SC's in our world.

  3. Out of all the reasons to not get vaccinated, this is one of the harder to understand. Since 'downtime' and 'issues' with catching COVID are orders of magnitude higher than vaccine side effects, it sort of begs the question. If downtime is something you don't want, why not decrease your odds of having it by like 288X?

  5. I agree. With that in mind, here I remain unvaccinated. I have spoken with medical professionals inside our stake, with a bag of mixed answers, speculation and best guesses... none of which are virologist. The Church suggests speaking not just to a medical professional but a 'competent' one. Does that mean, like actual virologist competent or just primary care physician competent? What about Lab Technician competent? What about Walgreens/CVC pharmacy competent? Or milk, eggs and the jab at the grocery store competent? I wonder how many people went and got the vaccine without consulting an actual competent medical professional first?

  7. I don't care what politicians say, but I do care about studies and data. And both of the things Paul cites are worthy additions to our understanding of Mommy Rona. Washington U study: https://medicine.wustl.edu/news/good-news-mild-covid-19-induces-lasting-antibody-protection/ Cleveland Clinic study: https://www.news-medical.net/news/20210608/No-point-vaccinating-those-whoe28099ve-had-COVID-19-Findings-of-Cleveland-Clinic-study.aspx Both of these are common sense and hardly surprising, but it's still nice to see scientific confirmation. That said, I can totally understand why public policy makers and health organizations are pushing the vaccination to everyone, whether they've been infected or not. It's the large number of liar-liars-pants-on-fires out there. Just like with mask wearing, suddenly there were millions of people who "can't wear a mask because I've got asthma" or some such lying bull crap. Now with this news, suddenly there are millions of unvaccinated folks who "already had covid", who are lying to get past whatever questionnaire or checkpoint or conversation. That said, I can totally understand why so many people easily lie in such situations. Folks who love freedom tend to despise questionnaires or checkpoints or conversations delving into their personal medical decisions, for many good reasons. At the end of the day, for me, the vaccine means now people have a choice. That choice means the govt control and mandates and health orders and stuff all need to go away. And honestly, they have, more than anyone wants to admit. Now the politicians on the federal level are happily keeping the issue alive and on the front page, because it's a way to get votes. I note that Colorado's solid blue governor dumped all the statewide mandates, stopped throwing news conferences, and is more than happy to get back to business as usual. Your state may differ.

  10. This is not possible, look at what our lovely President Biden had to say about being vaccinated (watch at 7:10). Maybe, just maybe, President Biden needs a Fact Checker to fact check him and manipulate what he said into a positive light. 😛 I think we live in a very interesting time where people -- are likely to be forced -- to get something for their protection that actually kills them. What a great world where we feel safer to end someones life for "their protection." Yes, that is a little cynical, but that's where we are. It's OK if the vaccine kills a few, as long as I am safe.

  11. It is surreal to think I am already at the age of having the privilege and opportunity to listen to my oldest give a talk after serving a full-time mission. Sadly, I haven't been sick all this year and the first time I am sick is the Sunday he is speaking. Fortunately, there is a Zoom meeting I will still be able to view and listen to him. I am looking forward to hearing the increase the Lord has given my son by the power of his Holy Spirit. I hope that he will continue to cherish the experiences and personal revelation he has received, and that he will continue to remain faithful to the Lord.

  12. People who doubt secret combinations only need to look at what has been revealed about Big Tobacco. They did not want to destroy the world, they simply wanted to have power over it. They lied about the product they sold, they had 'scientists' and politicians on their payroll. The only way they were brought to light was that the 'kooks' and 'extremist' did not shut up, in spite of pressure Big Tobacco applied to them. Now a days we are seeing this exact same pressure being applied to those being labelled as 'kooks' and 'extremist' and it is concerning. Not because every 'kooks' and 'extremist' right but rather we are not being allowed to decide for ourselves that whom are 'kooks and 'extremist' whom might have a point.

  13. 5 have had the vaccine. 10 have not said what they did. The OFFICIAL handbook of the church says: 38.7.13 Vaccinations Vaccinations administered by competent medical professionals protect health and preserve life. Members of the Church are encouraged to safeguard themselves, their children, and their communities through vaccination. Ultimately, individuals are responsible to make their own decisions about vaccination. If members have concerns, they should counsel with competent medical professionals and also seek the guidance of the Holy Ghost. Seems like an awful lot of finger wagging going on in the Church these days.

  15. I think that is an individual choice based on individual conditions. To say a blanket statement is not really taking into account a LOT of variables. I think you may have confused your concept of what I've stated with what I actually stated in the past. I said that I have a medical condition that makes it unfavorable for ME to take many vaccines. If other people want to get a vaccine, that's fine by me. But because you don't agree with my medical exemption, you think I'm anti-vax, and proceed to shame and ridicule me. It's a free country. You can do that.

  16. Depends on the vaccine. If they came out with an AIDS vaccine tomorrow, I'd be kinda skeptical.

  17. You're a good arguing buddy. I not only got the vaccine without consulting a competent medical professional, I signed up for the Moderna phase III trial without even asking anyone. I suppose competent medical professionals were involved, as my age and medical history would have prevented me from being in Phase I or II.

  19. Thank you. I do find Washington Post comment about how in communities where Spanish Flu spread it became less lethal with no vaccines, and the vaccines they were trying according to another article on the history of vaccines for Spanish it says the following: I guess, no vaccine and yet human condition overcame. I find that more telling.

  20. I can too, because I generally share their “don’t tell me what to do” philosophy. However, and it’s a huge however, I also understand things like the differences between “assault on freedom” and “light inconvenience”. If whining about wearing a mask is what you choose to complain about, your life is going amazingly well. There are, literally, people in India who are dying because of their lack of vaccines and masks. They’ll happily take yours.

  23. I suggest this is a mischaracterization of what occurred. Brothers Williams and Gause were not in competition with each other. Rather, Williams picked up the burden that Gause lost due to faithlessness. I find it interesting and maybe a little bit funny that Brother Williams went through the original paper copy of the revelation, literally striking out Gause's name and replacing it with his own. That's taking the admonition to apply scripture unto oneself very seriously. The same is true with the parable of the talents. The trustees were not in competition with each other, but the slothful servant's assignment was taken from him and given to one who had demonstrated his ability. To me, this sounds like living the law of consecration under a sort of united order, which is the polar opposite of competition. As for Isaac, Jacob and Esau, Ephraim, and Manassah, those events are not presented in a positive light, but as subterfuge. Lessons of eternal truths may have been drawn from the occurrences, but the happenings themselves seem to me more like ancient middle eastern family intrigues. I gather that such things were not uncommon.

    Secret Combinations

The concept of an “anti-Christ” is understood by many Christians to mean there will be one big bad anti-Christ that will will have to fight against. In reality, there will be many that take on that role. It is similar with secret combinations. It’s not one giant conspiracy of politicians coming together to destroy men. But rather a bunch of small and individual secret plans to exploit men and take them from God.

  32. A person's lineage is only partly biologically based. The other part has to do with a person's mission in this life and perhaps into the next. Since we are genetically descended from many people it is very possible to be descended from multiple tribes of Israel. When this is the case our official lineage as stated in our patriarchal blessing is based on what role God wants us to fill. This will determine which of the tribes we are officially a part of. Of course there is still much we don't yet know about what our tribal lineage entails. Make that question #862 when I die. 😉

  33. How do parents with Brown eyes... produce a blue eyed child? It was at one time a mystery. It happens and science has figured out how. But science has had no reason to target religious lineages, and the Lord has not revealed the how. Personally... My father was Ephraim, my mother was Manasseh. All my siblings and myself are Ephraim. My wife is Ephraim My oldest son is Manasseh. My two middle kids are Ephraim. To use the eye color example above it appears that Manasseh is a recessive trait in my line. But we do not know what brings it out

  34. Members of Israelite tribes frequently intermarried with members of other tribes; but Israelites seemed to have continued to refer to themselves as being “of a” particular tribe. It may be that Lehi had been raised to consider himself as a member of a different tribe (Levi, for example, which would explain why Lehi and Nephi felt justified engaging in sacerdotal duties like sacrifice and temple-building); but on working out the bloodlines he discovered that he was also a descendant of Joseph and thus an eligible heir to the blessings pronounced upon Joseph’s seed. By way of analogy, for those who subscribe to LDS theology: my patriarchal blessing identifies me as of the tribe of Ephraim. My wife’s similarly identifies her as of Ephraim. So naturally when our oldest daughter got her blessing, she was pronounced to be of the lineage of . . . Manasseh.

  38. Holy crap, that is excellent news! With around 60% of the state's 8.8million vaccinated, that makes the 'rona death rate of vaccinated NJians to be around 0.0009%. Compared to NJ's unvaccinated 'rona death rate of 0.27%, what more undeniable, clear, transparently glorious and wonderful proof of the vaccine's effectiveness could there possibly be? (I mean, the article doesn't make that clear, but people get it, right?) Wanna reduce your chances of dying of 'rona by two-hundred and eighty times? Get the vaccine. Wanna increase your chances of dying of 'rona by 280X? Don't get the vaccine. Thanks Carb, for posting this wonderful news! I'm seeing similar good reports everywhere. Dang I'm glad we've got effective vaccines against this thing. Now, only the most stubbornly blinder-wearing folks out there are able to cling to a false belief that the vaccine isn't effective. I mean, folks can still say things like "it's not for me" or "I have the right to decide for myself" or "I'm concerned about possible long-term effects", or "0.27%? I'll take my chances, thank you", or some such. There remain several valid principled arguments against the vaccine. But with the entire world's populations showing results similar to New Jersey, nobody can hope to say the vaccine isn't wildly effective against the virus, and hope to maintain a shred of credibility. Denying the vaccine's effectiveness, in the face of several months of relevant data, is now tantamount to denying the earth is a sphere. I always figured these guys knew what they were doing. Especially the superstar combination of medical doctor, former medical researcher, and prophet of the Lord. \
