clbent04 Posted November 27, 2018 Report Posted November 27, 2018 (edited) Has anyone else seen this? Virtual church services are becoming more and more popular. Ever since I’ve seen this video, I picture all of us on this Third Hour website as part of a similiar virtual congregation. Maybe in the future the LDS church will want team up with the Third Hour website to try piloting virtual LDS church?! I imagine the Church would call @Vort to be virtual bishop, @CV75 to be 1st counselor, @NeuroTypical to be 2nd counselor, @zil to be Relief Society President, and @Anddenex to be Elder’s Quorum President. Here’s more on the Robloxian church if anyone is interested. Pastor Daniel is doing some cool things. And he’s just a teen! https://www.faithandleadership.com/teens-online-church-draws-young-people-around-world Edited November 27, 2018 by clbent04 Anddenex 1 Quote
JohnsonJones Posted November 27, 2018 Report Posted November 27, 2018 I have not seen that, but I know a number of churches now offer to let people be members of their church by joining and participating online rather than in person for services. The LDS church does not do exactly this, but if you tune into BYU TV you can see a short sacrament service on Sundays (or they used to do this, at least a few months ago, have not checked recently). I think it may be a little hard to do a complete LDS service as membership thing online or virtually as part of the reason we meet is twofold. The be among and associate with the Saints and to participate in the Ordinance of Sacrament. I think it may be hard to do the ordinance part without being there in person. Quote

Well, in the crazy alternate universe where the LDS Church actually condoned virtual church services, I don’t think it’s out of reach to bless virtual bread and water, and consume it with your avatar. All things are possible through Christ (that is, of course, assuming the Lord willed it to be). Edited November 27, 2018 by clbent04 Quote
CV75 Posted November 27, 2018 Report Posted November 27, 2018 (edited) Sorry I must decline as I am already virtual and a virtual version would put me out of phase: Edited November 27, 2018 by CV75 Midwest LDS and clbent04 2 Quote
Emmanuel Goldstein Posted November 27, 2018 Report Posted November 27, 2018 I could see the church eventually allowing 360 cameras in the chapel so you could attend when you are sick or unable to leave your home. Throw on some Virtual goggles and it is almost like you are there. Quote
